Lucy was amazing! Very knowledgeable not just on the food, but Beijing and Chinese culture & history. She was willing to be as adventurous as you want too which we appreciated.
What a fun experience! Our guide was absolutely amazing — knowledgeable, personable, and genuinely passionate about sharing Beijing’s food culture. I loved that we got to visit so many different restaurants and food stalls, each with their own specialty. We had a wonderful afternoon in Hutong with Lucy. She is very thoughtful, professional and knowledgeable. Lucy introduced us to a variety of interesting, authentic and tasty local dishes we enjoyed very much. Lucy went above and beyond to make our experience in the oldest part of Beijing a memorable one. At our request, she even introduced us to one of the most reputable jewelry stores in Beijing. We would highly recommend this tour with Lucy.
There is SOOOOOO MUCH food on this tour and you want to eat it all! May our tour guide was amazing, she had an excellent knowledge of all the best local eateries and gave us options on what we could fit in 😂...the noodle soup and dumplings were the hero though for us!!

Our guide Anson picked us up as agreed at the hotel. A private driver drove us to the area for the tour in a spacious Buick. During the three-hour tour we were able to taste a variety of dishes. The dessert / sweets we brought home at the end of the trip - we simply couldn't eat anymore. It is a clear advantage to be hungry when the trip begins as there is plenty of food and drink! Anson seasoned the tour with stories and descriptions of the food, which put the different dishes in context. In addition, the conversation flute easily even though none of us have English as our native language. In addition we got a teaching tour in the nearby hutong. We were transported back to the hotel after completing the tour. On this tour we were introduced to a variety of dishes at restaurants we probably had not visited on our own. Anson made sure we all, including two young adults, had a nice experience. Recommended!
We had a great food tour with Anson. He was incredibly friendly and shared his great knowledge and good stories about the food and the neighborhood. It was a really good trip as our 2 teenagers greatly also enjoy.
