Unfortunately, I was not happy with the communication and overall organization of the excursion. We were not met at the agreed meeting point, which already caused some confusion at the start. Throughout the day, very little information was communicated to the guests, and I often felt that we were more or less left to figure things out on our own. The lunch was also disappointing. It was served cold and appeared to have been sitting there for several hours, which did not make for a very enjoyable meal. Overall, I personally felt that we essentially paid for the boat rather than for a properly organized excursion. Considering the lack of communication, organization, and the quality of the lunch, I found the experience quite expensive for what we actually received. I hope these points can be taken into consideration, as better communication and organization would make a significant difference to the overall experience.

I had a very good experience with the trip as to my expectation. I loved the activities and especially the barbecue and food was yummy. The guide was friendly and can speak different languages. Recommend ziocean tours for a great experience

The activity is ok. Prison island is worth a visit, but whether with the tour group or by yourself is debatable. We booked the tour and it was for 9:30am start. Instruction from the tour operator indicated arriving meeting place 30 minutes before the start time which we did. There was no one. No guide or any sign. I reached out via WhatsApp and was told the guide will be here around 9:30am. So why asking us to arrive 30 minutes before? Staning under the brutal sunshine. We did finally leave around 10:15am. Later I learnt that our tour guide was sick and the person who came with us was a sub, which is fine except the sub does not have much guide experience based on his performance. The person is very nice it is just that he does not know much of the history information to be a proper guide. Honestly I don't know how knowledgeable the original guide was because he was never with us. Prison island is very interesting but the Guide sub could not provide anything more than I can read on the island so I really questioned the need for a guide. Later we were supposed to have the Stone Town tour, but instead, he let people just to go into shops for shopping to waste time and we really could not follow and waste our time so we left the tour early. It was pretty disappointing overall.

Very nice day with pickup and drop-off at the Nungwi hotel - After a 1 hour 30 minute drive to Stone Town, it starts after 30 minutes by boat with Prison Island, which is only interesting for its scenery and its centenarian tortoises - Then sailing for another 30 minutes to the Nakupenda sandbank, the site is magical but very, very touristy - then after another 30 minutes by boat, return to Stone Town for a walking tour with a very nice French-speaking guide - I recommend it ❤️

The excursion was fabulous with Hashim the guide as our host. Seeing the turtles, Nakupenda Island, and the Stone Town tour is worth it.

The experience could be good if it was better organized. From start to finish the guides seemed like they didn’t know what they were doing. From waiting at the meeting point for almost an hour as people showed up, to struggling to get tickets at prison island, waiting for over an hour for food on the island, not having enough options for non-seafood eaters, not enough tables… the whole experience was a mess. Beyond the lack of effort from the guides, both prison island and the sand bar were completely overrun with people. There was no one supervising the tortoises and the guides would disregard the “rules” of no touching and no crossing barriers to give their guests better photos. And the ending point was not the same as the meeting point as indicated on the booking, so I had to navigate back thru stone town on my own. The whole experience was extremely frustrating.

I booked this tour as a solo traveler, and it was absolutely fantastic from start to finish! If you are traveling alone and looking for a comprehensive yet stress-free way to experience Zanzibar, this is the perfect itinerary. The Perfect Pace: I thoroughly enjoyed the incredibly relaxed atmosphere of the entire day. Nothing felt rushed, giving me plenty of time to soak in each beautiful location. Zanzibar City Tour: Walking through the historic streets of Stone Town was fascinating, offering a deep dive into the island's rich history and culture. Prison Island: Meeting the giant tortoises and exploring the island’s historic ruins was a truly unique experience. Sandbank: This pristine stretch of white sand surrounded by turquoise water is pure paradise. It was the perfect spot to unwind, swim, and relax. Delicious BBQ Lunch: The fresh seafood and meat BBQ served right on the sandbank was absolutely delicious, incredibly fresh, and beautifully prepared. Thank you to the entire Ziocean team for an unforgettable and beautifully organized day. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Zanzibar!

Very knowledgeable guide, very thorough and easy to understand. Guides can speak multiple languages.

We had a fantastic day on this tour. We started at Nakupenda Sandbank, where the guides set up shade, tables and chairs for us. I'd definitely recommend bringing plenty of sun cream, a hat and something to cover your shoulders, as the sun is very strong and there's little natural shade if you decide to explore the sandbank. We spent around two hours there, relaxing, swimming and enjoying a delicious BBQ lunch. Next, we headed to Prison Island, which was by far our favourite part of the trip. Our guide shared the fascinating history of the island before giving us time to explore the small museum, browse the souvenir shops and, best of all, meet the Aldabra giant tortoises. The guides were always nearby to answer questions, share interesting information and even take photos for us. Finally, we returned to Stone Town for the walking tour. Abdullah was an excellent guide - friendly, welcoming and incredibly knowledgeable. He shared a wealth of information about the history, culture and daily life of Stone Town, making the tour both informative and enjoyable. Overall, this was a well-organised tour with great guides and a good balance of relaxation, history and sightseeing. We'd highly recommend it to anyone visiting Zanzibar.

Tour was fantastic from staring to the end. Our driver, Guide and boat captain ware absolutely kind, knowledgeable and amazing. Absolutely highly recommend this company to anyone who visit Zanzibar.
