Naturaleza Bacalar tours provided incorrect & misleading departure information for this excursion based on the ships arrival time when I enquired about it, as there is none specified on the activity when booking. On arrival, they made a last minute attempt to contact us about another family waiting / being delayed, & although we rushed to make the transportation, they ended up leaving us at the port. They then arranged for a local taxi company to take us to Bacalar, told me to negatiate cost directly with the taxi driver, and then stopped answering all my calls and messages. The local taxi company asked me to pay an additional $150 to take us to Bacalar, which I ofcourse rejected as it was irresponsible of tour guide operator to put us in that situation. I was travelling with my wife & 3 year old toddler & the stress of dealing with this tour operator left a very bitter taste in our mouths. We will never book anything with them or through Viator in future as there was an impartial, unfair, and rushed ruling on my request to obtain a refund, despite trying to get them both to understand my point of view on the confusing departure information provided. My advice would be to AVOID, AVOID, AVOID, and always book your activities through the cruiseliners even though there may be a small premium attached to it, as this sort of headache which spoilt our Costa Maya experience would have never occur. Also this experience is not cheap, so we've ended up losing quite a bit of money.

Before the excursion, the departure information and meeting instructions were sent to you through the Viator communication system. We have access to the shared Viator inbox, and the correspondence was reviewed and confirmed by Viator during their investigation. The messages clearly provided the necessary information regarding the meeting time and departure arrangements. Unfortunately, you did not arrive at the designated meeting point at the scheduled time. In fact, you arrived approximately one hour late. We understand that delays can happen, especially when travelling by cruise ship, but we also have a responsibility to the other guests who followed the instructions, monitored their communications, and were present on time. We could not reasonably continue delaying the entire group. We also want to clarify that Viator reviewed the communication and circumstances before making its decision regarding your refund request. Their decision was based on the information available in the correspondence shared between Viator and our company. We sincerely regret that this situation affected your experience in Costa Maya. At the same time, we encourage all future guests to carefully monitor their email and Viator messages before and on the day of their excursion, particularly when travelling from a cruise ship. Meeting times and last-minute operational updates are communicated through these channels, and checking them is essential to avoid misunderstandings. We respect your decision regarding future bookings, but we hope this clarification helps future travelers understand the importance of checking their messages and arriving at the designated meeting point on time.
Excellent trip from start to finish. Really good transfers, excellent guide for the duration. The lagoon is stunning and well worth a visit if you are visiting in a cruise. We were looked after from start to finish and made it back to the ship in good time. I would recommend this trip 100% and use this company if you want to visit the bacalar lagoon.

Soo much fun! We just did this excursion during our cruise trip. My kids still speak about the event and the lagoon was so beautiful. We learn so much during our private tour with our guide. It is about 1 hr and 10 min long. Our driver pick us up at the port and stops midway to pick up a pineapple and for the kids to stretch and get some snack for the road. Love the whole experience.

What a wonderful day. So beautiful and the tour guides were wonderful!! Walk out of the port, name on a sign, fun hour drive to the boat with beverages on board. Great pontoon boat, pineapple sliced and served while dipping in pirates canal! Pure heaven!

Bacalar is a beautiful place to visit, the tour guide is nice, give us plenty of time to relax in the beautiful lagoon. However the meeting point from cruise port is not easy to find, have to ask around from local people to get to meeting point.

Everything was amazing. They arranged a taxi for two of us Even though they didnt have enough people for the trip. They could simply cancel due to lack of people. But they didnt. I can only say good stuff about the whole trip. Thanks a lot to these guys.
