Although my Austin tour was great, the business practice of this company is quite disappointing. I ordered my ticket directly through the Secret Food Tours website. I purchased an extra ticket for this tour that ended up not being used. When I asked for a refund, I was told that I could be given a gift card to use within a year. I was under the impression that a refund to my credit card was not possible. I took the gift card, and tried to use it one year later in Phoenix. I booked the tour, which cost the gift card and an extra $10 charged to my card. A few weeks later, my friend tried to book the same tour to find out that it was canceled. No one from Secret Food Tours reached out to me to say they were canceling the tour, I had to contact them. They offered a different day, but I was only in Phoenix for vacation and could not do another day. I asked for a full refund to my card, to include the gift card amount and the $10, to which they said they could only give a new gift card and refund the $10 since that's how I bought the Phoenix ticket. I went back and forth with multiple people for 2 months. Several times, I was promised the remaining refund to the card since I would not be taking part in any more of their tours. Now, it was confirmed that they will not be issuing the refund. I feel that my money has been stolen and it is shady business practice. If you do not purchase through trip advisor, my advice is that you should ask for the refund to your card, if you need to cancel, instead of accepting a gift card. And a side note, I checked the Pheonix tours a week after my vacation, and it says permanently closed. So I have a feeling that even if I rescheduled, they would have canceled again with no notice.
