We bought this walking tour and then we had to download an “Inway App” to use the tour. It says the tour is available in English, French and Spanish. We could not get the English version and had to listen to the points of interest in French. We found the directions difficult to follow as it did not give directions. It only told you when you were off the tour. You followed the blue line for the points of interest but the blue line was difficult to follow. One minute you were following it and the next you were off the path and you were given a red warning to get back on the path. We’ve done other walking audio tours but this one was not user friendly.
Hello Lewis44, I apologize for the difficulties you experienced with the language settings and the navigation. By default, the application sets itself to French when entering the code. To change the language, here are the steps: Click on the Settings menu (the gear icon). Look for the Language options. Select English, even if it already appears to be selected. Tapping it forces the application to refresh and load the correct audio and text files. Regarding the navigation, the application relies on your device's GPS to track your location against the blue route line. The route is interesting as it brings together the main sites of the city, and the commentary is thorough without being too long.
The audio wouldn’t come on unless you were standing in the exact spot so it was not very useful to me. I just wanted to hear the history and highlights while I was walking around.

This design ensures the historical information matches the exact sites you are viewing. However, if you prefer to listen to the highlights while walking freely outside these designated zones, you can manually play the audio at any time by tapping the points directly on the app's map. It was a little bit difficult to get the code. And the location accuracy was not great. Some stops were wrong or off location.

Regarding the activation code, I understand it can be a bit confusing; it is typically located on the PDF voucher sent by Viator immediately after booking. As for the location accuracy, GPS signals can sometimes be affected by the narrow streets or tall buildings in the old town. We are constantly working on refining our geofencing to make the triggers as precise as possible. Very very good experience! I visited Annecy and was able to discover the city in perfect autonomy, which is really ideal when you travel alone and especially when you do not know the city at all and you have no idea what to visit. The route is very clear and easy to follow, and the voice is really nice to listen to. The tour offers content on the history of the city and monuments, without it becoming long, it is precise, well dosed and super interesting. Even practical information such as the location of public toilets is indicated, which is very welcome and shows that everything has been thought out to facilitate the visit.
