We really enjoyed the tour, and John shared lots of great details about Anchorage and its history. He was clearly passionate about the city and its story, which made the tour even more enjoyable

This is the worst tour we have ever experienced. And we have done tours all over the world. We did the 2-hour tour, and 45 minutes were all about our driver, Ian. He introduced himself for about 10 minutes, and then we were off ...for a 5-minute ride to a parking lot where he stood in front of the door And went on and on for 20 minutes Covering everything about Ian He covered politics, everywhere he lived, the jobs he has had ( he has 3 now ) , his mama, his wife, his kids,his schools the schools he was kicked out of ,his favorite football team etc Then the doors opened and we got to see the highlight of the day . People fly fishing in the river and we saw someone catch a nice size fish ..pretty cool. Then we thought we were finally off to the rest of the tour., Nope .. Ian had more to tell us about himself while he stood there again and people were getting anxious. There were 2 more stops with not really any reason to get out But we did to get away from him as there was more Ian Ian Ian standup at each stop. He did tell us a few interesting facts about Anchorage but not enough. Not 1 word about the Iditarod which I thought would be obvious. This was supposed to be 2 hours but we got back 15 minutes early which would normally have been a letdown but ,also stopped us from jumping out the window. To be fair The trolly was cool and there is also a 1 hour tour available which is probably just about right. Just be sure to find out the name of your tour host before you book. Ian s wife is his boss , so he will probably be there for a while..

There was not much history or culture talk. More about the 1964 earthquake and the drivers personal experiences. I would do this again but would want a different driver.
