1957 年 3 月 5 日、ケント公爵夫人マリーナ王女によって設立されたガーナ博物館・記念物委員会の管理下にある 6 つの博物館の中で最大かつ最古の博物館がオープンしました。考古学セクションの遺物は、近世から石器時代まで多岐にわたります。民族学ギャラリーの常設展示には、酋長の衣装、ガーナ固有の楽器、金の重り、ビーズ、伝統的な織物、スツール、陶器などがあります。貿易で入手した他のアフリカ諸国の品々もあります。コートジボワールのセヌフォの仮面、ズールー族の木像、南アフリカのビーズ細工の品々などがその例です。コンゴのブションゴの彫刻やナイジェリアの古代イフェの青銅の頭部も展示されています。控えめながらも印象的なアート ギャラリーの展示は、主に現代のガーナ人による油絵、パステル画、アクリル画、水彩画、コラージュなどの現代絵画です。これら以外にも、様々な素材で作られた彫刻があります。

1957年にガーナが英国から独立した後、クワメ・エンクルマが同国の初代首相およびゴールドコースト大統領に選出されました。この広場は、ガーナの独立を記念してクワメ・エンクルマによって建設されました。当時、エリザベス女王も訪れていました。1961年に建設が完成すると、このエリアはブラックスター広場と名付けられました。独立記念門、ブラックスター門、解放記念日記念碑など、ガーナの独立闘争を称える記念碑がガーナのアクラにある独立広場にあります。ガーナの独立記念日パレードは、毎年3月6日にブラックスター広場で行われます。特に注目されたのは、ガーナが英国植民地支配から独立して50年を迎えたことを記念するゴールデンジュビリーパレードです。建国50周年記念式典はジョン・クフォー大統領の指揮のもと、2007年3月6日に開催されました。この式典は、すべての重要な国家の祭典や集会の会場としても機能しています。

Nice day had nice guide, who knew a lot about the places we visited. Only downside is that at the end of the tour we went for some food and the guide and the driver also ordered food and we ended up paying for their food. It would have been neater if they had asked us to pay for their food in advance.

I had a memorable experience on the Boansi Accra city tour, led by two young men who brought energy and insight to the journey through Accra's rich culture and history. It’s inspiring to see the younger generation take the lead in offering visitors such an authentic experience of Ghana, helping to build meaningful connections with the country. There are, however, a few areas for improvement. For instance, presenting a professional first impression with a business ID and logo, perhaps even a visible sticker, would enhance customer confidence. Additionally, improving communication about the tour details and any potential delays beforehand would go a long way in refining the experience.
