Rolando was extremely knowledgeable throughout the tour and was excellent at keeping the group together with encouraging words to those that were struggling with the trek.

David Costro was our tour guide for the two days we spend touring around Cusco/ archeological sites. David was amazing. He was very knowledgeable about the history and all the sites. Highly recommend him and this tour.

David Castro was one of the most kind and knowledgeable guides I’ve had through many tours and treks I’ve done in the past. He was accommodating for both English and Spanish speaking individuals on the tour. I would 100% recommend David and salkantay treks to anyone coming to visit Cusco peru 🇵🇪

I cannot say enough about the amazing experience I had on the “Andean Explorer” 9 day tour with 5 day Salkantay trek. I toured with Franz the “Andean Goat” on the Salkantay trek. I was also happy to learn that this company is 100% owned and operated by Peruvians. Franz was so knowledgeable about the history of the Incas, the Inca religion, and the plants and landscapes we trekked through. This was exactly what I was hoping to gain from this trip and more. He was great at modifying the pace as needed for our group of 10. He was also a fantastic photographer for the group along the way. I would defintely recommend any of my friends to tour with Franz and am so grateful he was my guide!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Franz “The Andean Goat” Made Our Salkantay Trek Unforgettable! Our Salkantay Trek was truly the adventure of a lifetime, and Franz was a huge part of what made the experience so special. Franz was absolutely amazing—knowledgeable, patient, accommodating, and somehow magically able to adjust to everyone’s different hiking pace while still keeping our 10 person group together and making sure everyone felt supported. No matter how many questions we had (and we had A LOT!), he always had an answer and never made us feel rushed. What really stood out to me was the depth of his knowledge. Franz taught us so much about Incan history, Peruvian culture, traditions, and the incredible places we were experiencing firsthand. Beyond the history, he also shared spiritual meanings, beliefs, and perspectives connected to the Andes that really resonated with us and made the journey feel even more meaningful. It wasn’t simply a trek—it felt like we were truly connecting with Peru, its people, its history, and its spirit. Through the challenging climbs, long days, laughs, questions, and unforgettable views, Franz was patient, encouraging, attentive, and genuinely invested in making sure we had the best experience possible. If you are considering the Salkantay Trek, I cannot recommend Franz enough. Marco Antonio Centeno Montesinos was the most amazing guide we could have ever asked for. His humor, his passion, his knowledge, and his positivity kept us going throughout the 5-day portion of the Salkantay Trek. We developed such an amazing bond with Marco that he worked on his one day off so he could spend one more day with us to hike Rainbow Mountain. David, our city guide for the first half-day and full-day city tours was very knowledgeable. In hindsight, our group would have preferred to just explore the city lightly on our own instead of the city tours, but they were still wonderful sights and information and history.

The trek was an incredible experience. The food, staff, and accommodations were all much better than I had expected. Our tour guide, Juan Carlos, went above and beyond to keep us safe and comfortable. Thank you JC!

We had an amazing time, it was definitely harder than we expected, but we made it. While this specific tour did provide two days of acclamation before I hike I might recommend that those that are not very very athletic arrive even sooner. Our guide for the first 2 days, david, was very knowledgeable and kind and did a great job walking us around all the historical sites around Cusco. The 5-day tour we had an amazing man named Marco, he too was knowledgeable but not only because he had studied the information but because he is Incan, and this trail, this history this is own. He has hiked this trail hundreds of times, when it was too hard for us he carried our pack and lightened our load. He was never short of encouragement, and helped us keep our head high on our toughest days. I deeply appreciate his companionship throughout this journey. Pro tips: would recommend bringing about 200 to $250 translates to about 600 to 750 soles. While many places in the city do accept cards, many places along the trail do not. Between tips, and buying incidental things throughout. I had boots that I've loved the past 16 years, and they made it into the last day but not one minute more, this is a very rocky, and rigorous trail, which will tear up your shoes. So I would keep that in mind in terms of how old your shoes are and possibly bring super or gorilla glue with you. Laundry services are available in both Cusco and Aguas Calientes, and I would recommend using this in favor of bringing a bunch of clothes.
