Joyful tour
If you are in Chongqing and want to visit cool, slightly lesser-known spots, I highly recommend Eric’s private English-language tour.
We visited the following places:
1. Baiheliang Museum – A museum located beneath the Yangtze River, showcasing ancient carvings made on the riverbed.
2. Project 816 – An underground complex originally intended for nuclear fuel enrichment; the facility was never put into operation, making it accessible to visitors.
3. Wuling Mountain – A massive, breathtaking canyon featuring stunning natural scenery and a stream running through the middle.
Eric, the guide, is absolutely delightful; he conducts the tour with a smile and a great atmosphere. He is very punctual, and you manage to cover a lot of ground.

A Great Experience
This tour was incredibly interesting, especially the nuclear plant and Mount Wuling Great Rift Valley. A big compliment to Eric, he is extremely knowledgeable about the history of the sites and made the whole experience even more engaging.
The tour was very well organised and perfectly paced; the time flew by without us even noticing. Eric’s lunch recommendations were also excellent, and the food was delicious.
Overall, a fantastic experience. I highly recommend this tour!

This was an incredible day trip that offered an interesting mix of history and nature at three spots that are bit off the typical beaten path for tourists visiting Chongqing. The 816 Project is a a former top secret Cold War nuclear energy facility turned musuem—the plant was absolutely enormous and the history behind it was deeply fascinating. Wuling Mountain may very well be the most underrated national park in the Chongqing area, it has stunning limestone karsts, beautifully restored structures, thrilling gondolas, and a cantilevered path through a deep and narrow that was unbelievable—this is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been.
My guide Eric was extremely knowledgeable, spoke fluent English, and took fantastic pictures of me. I can’t recommend this tour highly enough!
