The Cuzco-Puno transfer on the Ruta del Sol was THE transfer which I feared the most given its lengthy duration; however, my tour operator, IncaExpress, really helped me getting through it. First of all, our bus was very comfortable with plenty leg space, overhead luggage space for backpacks, reclining seats almost to a flat bed, bathroom on bus and breakfast included with an onboard station for hot tea and coffee. Nonetheless, departure was very early so I slept like a baby for most of the morning, and, given Perù’s worrying road conditions, that was short of a miracle; but, truthfully, it was all thanks to the amazing skills of our driver, Mr. Ben! As last, to keep such long hours of transfer interesting, we have our guide, Mattias, to thank! Mattias was a truly knowledgeable guide who was also equally proficient in english and skilled in keeping our (rather big) group and itinerary running smoothly as to avoid delays and traffic congestions. In all truth, our schedule was pretty tight, which actually was all for our good since even the most well-preserved Inca ruins became far too tiring after too many hours on a bus. Mattias was amazing in coordinating our visits to fascinating Inca Archeological Sites, the beatiful South America’s Sixtine Chapel and a filling lunch and the long journey ahead of us!!
