The 7-day trek to ABC was intense and breathtaking! From the very beginning, Tej provided all the useful information needed to prepare in the best possible way, taking care of every detail to ensure a wonderful experience. My guide, Ram, was fantastic—friendly, helpful, and managed all the organization during the trek perfectly. Highly recommended!

While writing this review, I remember how exhausted I was when I arrived at ABC Base Camp a month ago. But the next morning’s view made it all worth it—I knew I had made the right choice, trekking in winter and alone. I decided on this trip in a hurry, so I didn’t have much time to do research. A friend who had done ABC and EBC wasn’t sure about recommending it because of the limited time and the low season. I was hesitant too, until Tej replied to my email. I had just had time to do a brief search on Tripadvisor, picked three agencies, and wrote to them. Tej, the business manager at Alterative Treks and Expedition, was the first to respond. After two or three emails, I made my decision. From our communication, I could tell Tej was experienced, kind, and trustworthy. He tailor-made a package based on my schedule and needs. The offer was a bit over my budget, but I accepted it—and it turned out to be worth every penny and my senses about Tej had been right. Upon arrival, Tej met me with Raju, my guide and porter to be, a shy, young, and handsome guy. His English had room to improve, but he knew and performed his responsibilities well. He was always a step behind me, keeping me safe, securing the best rooms, arranging meals, and deciding when to start, stop, or take a break. He was kind and patient, assure me to be “Bistali, bistali” all the time. As a way of killing time, he also taught me Nepali phrases for greetings and bargaining. Raju was a guide apprentice, as Tej explained but I would say I had a wonderful time. Next time I visit Nepal, I will definitely choose Alterative again. Tej and Raju were a real part of my trek and of my first trip to Nepal.

I had an unforgettable experience on a 10-day ABC trekking via Poon hill with Nepal alternative trek. From texting inquiries to ending your schedule with Director Tej Gurung, everything is smooth and Pro. He answered all of his questions clearly and made himself feel confident. As for the journey, we can’t help but thank Guide Saroj Ghale, who was a dedicated and entertaining guide who took good care of us and we had fun chatting and playing ludo together. Thank you, too, Porter Dil, who has you on the journey that has contributed a lot to my sense of humor. Though I am a Porter, I support my friend very well. If you plan to take Trek in Nepal, you don’t have to look far beyond the Nepal Alternative treks.

Most incredible experience seeing the Himalayas of Nepal with the most beautiful, kind, company! They assisted in every way possible and sought aid whenever possible throughout our trip, even when our trek had been completed! As two young females travelling together, we always felt safe, secure and comfortable, the guide and porter made the whole experience incredible and were always looking to improve our trip! Tej the company’s owner, personally met with us to discuss the trek beforehand, and came out to assist us when our flights home and into Nepal had been cancelled/delayed, speaking to airport staff to have us on the next available flight, and assisted us with taxis to and from the the airport. To everyone thinking of trekking to Nepal, I’d highly recommend Nepal alternative treks and expeditions as you get the sense they genuinely care for each and every person and are the most hospitable trekking company!

Already during the preparation of our 8 days holiday in Annapurna region, we felt the professionalism of the organizer. They really thought of everything, from accommodations and meals to equipment. We were received by the organizer in Kathmandu and accompanied by the guide and porter during the bus ride. This had the advantage that we quickly found the tourist bus. Our guide, a woman, was always professional, safely led us through the mountains, and provided important tips during the trek, so that we received a lot of additional information and could always be at the most beautiful places at the right time. We always felt safe and well accompanied, without the guide and porter being intrusive. We especially liked that she quickly established a personal connection with us, spoke very good English, and paid attention to our family. She lovingly took care of our meals in the huts and even prepared her own dessert for us in the evening. All stages were perfectly planned and the schedule was followed exactly. The porter carried our luggage and was always on time at the destination. To mark the successful completion, we were rewarded with a beautiful cake featuring the main milestones of our trek. The T-shirts and caps we also received as gifts will be treasured, and they will always remind us of this wonderful journey. Our heartfelt thanks go to the organizer and his team. Nepal Alternative Treks is our favorite for trekking tours in Nepal. We can warmly recommend them.

My partner and I booked our 7 day private guided trek to Annapurna Base Camp in early April of 2025. We wanted to be able to enjoy the scenery, the different sights and experience at our own pace and we got exactly that with this tour. Initially we were greeted by Tej who helped us take care of permits and other questions in regards to gears and rental options available. Tej was very accommodating, and gave us all the information we needed in order to prepare ourselves weeks in advanced of the trek. And ultimately connecting us with our guide for the journey. We were picked up on the day of the trek by our guide with a jeep and headed towards the starting point of the itinerary. Over the next 7 days could only be described as magical, with the forecast overshadowing a rainy and stormy ascent and low visibility. We prepared ourselves with low expectations for the chances of seeing the mountains and tried to focus on enjoying things moment by moment. Little did we know that the mountains had other plans and decided to show us the full display of its beauty. Of course, we had our fair share of rain and low visibility, to us it really added to the grandeur of its reveal once the weather did clear up. None of this would have been possible without the help and humility of our guide and porter; Andrea and Surya. Their expertise of the area, connections with the different location we headed to each day really made us feel as if we were in the best hands possible. We greatly owe them our thanks to their generosity and hospitality. We could not see ourselves journeying this trek without those two, who we now consider as friends. To anyone looking for a private guide for their small group or just want to travel alone, we could not recommend booking with Nepal Alternative Treks more.
