A Dahabiya is not a cruise ship, and that is precisely the point. With only a handful of cabins, the boat moves quietly, mooring at small villages and riverbanks where the big vessels cannot stop. Over six days we drifted from Luxor to Aswan, visiting Karnak, the Valley of the Kings, Edfu, Kom Ombo, and Philae, before the long, unforgettable detour to Abu Simbel. Evenings were spent on deck with tea, watching the desert turn pink. No crowds, no queues, no noise. Just the Nile, at its own pace.
