Overall good safari and great experience with the wildebeest crossings. The guides were well informed, had knowledge and had good local intelligence, were well connected that enabled them to take us to places where wild life were spotted. Food varied depending on where we stayed. Lunch options could have been better. Overall great experience. Aside did not like the shopping or the experience of visiting the Masai village-the activities at the village was designed for getting money from tourists .. Prices are more than four times the actual cost, so negotiate to get a fare price. This was not communicated clearly. In addition, the communications related to the border crossing processes could be better. Overall great experience.
We did a fabulous 9 day safari through the Masai Mara, Northern and Central Serengeti and NgoroNgoro. We got to see some Wildebeest migration across the Mara, with lions, cheetahs, leopard, buffalo, hippos, crocodiles, elephants. Zebras, Giraffes, and a wide range of animals in the deer category, hyenas, jackals, various wild cats, ostriches, predatory birds etc. we had a great land cruiser on the Masai Mara leg, although the vehicle on the Tanzania leg appeared a little tired. The guides in both the Kenya and Tanzania legs were great. Amani, on the Tanzania leg was very knowledgeable. The accommodations were very nice with the Kubu Kubu lodge in the Central Serengeti being the highlight. Packed lunches were not very appealing, but the breakfast and dinner were nice. The Masai village visit enroute to NgoroNgoro was interesting but not particularly appealing as it looked like a show put together to extract money from gullible tourists. The stopovers for souvenirs could have been better performed if proper guidance was provided. The guides get a commission on the purchase volume, so there’s a bit of a conflict of interest. While I am accepting of the guides making a commission, appropriate guidance on what to expect should have been provided. In any case, the stop near Arusha on the return had the best overall selection and quality, albeit pricier, but one needs to negotiate hard. Overall, a very good experience.
