Excellent fun packed day. Lunch with orca and humpbacks with a hot drink in hand was a highlight! Comfortable ride and were given suits for warmth which were needed! Laurel was an excellent guide and we covered lots of miles and she gave us lots of local and marine information. Would reccomend!

We booked the 6-hour Zodiac tour. We are a bit torn as to whether we liked the tour or not. However, we can say that we had completely different expectations for the tour, and these are fueled until you are out on the water. At around €220 per person and a longer tour compared to other providers, one probably automatically has higher expectations. Our goal was to take a boat tour directly from Campbell River because the special thing about Vancouver Island is, among other things, the northern part, which you cannot reach by car. During the briefing, we were shown a wonderful "North" map with pictures of animals that we would hopefully see that day (bears, orcas, bald eagles, and humpback whales). We were already very excited that we would be heading into the small waterways toward Maurelle Island. We were given suits (which were admittedly quite worn in places, but served their "warming purpose"), assigned seats, and off we went. We didn't have to wait long, as there were a great many humpback whales in the immediate vicinity. You get within a few hundred meters of the whales - however, you should definitely have binoculars and/or a powerful telephoto lens (greater than 400mm) with you to really see anything. The animals are observed from a respectful distance, and good photos are accordingly only possible with very high magnification. However, of our six hours, we did not spend the majority of our route in the north as announced, but exclusively in the area between Campbell River, Marina Island, and Mitlenatch. Unfortunately, there was no access to the rivers and inlets; the focus for the entire time was on the local sea area. We had two very nice guides, but it was more of a tour for them (a biologist on board used the tour to identify local whales). We ended up spending a full 5 hours on that, plus 30 minutes for lunch and 30 minutes for orcas. Seeing the orcas was really great. However, we did not see a coastline up close a single time, and therefore no bears or the landscape. A real shame. In our opinion, the tour should be conducted in accordance with the advertising. In the end, it is a highlight to see the whales at all and no one wants to stress the animals, but if the tour had been more towards the north, it would have better lived up to what the provider advertises. After all, most people only have the opportunity to take such a tour once. For lunch, there were wraps, coffee, hot chocolate, and water. There is a restroom on board. In the end, we were shown a different map of the north, with a boat route (to the right of the pier); the initial map is in the pickup area. On the "boat route" map, our route was only 1/3 visible because we did not move north. Our conclusion is that if you want as much whale watching as possible in the shortest possible time, this tour is perfect for you; however, anyone wanting the full experience of the nature of Vancouver Island and the surrounding islands will unfortunately be disappointed here. The focus is on orcas and the identification of humpback whales. Yes, the tour is named that way, but they do advertise a "complete" program.

Great experience. Laurel was an excellent boat and trip guide. We saw many whales. Also birds and seals. The snacks were homemade, healthy, and very delicious!

Our trip could not have been better. Our guide Dominic was super friendly and knowledgeable, with a genuine care for the nature and animals around us. We saw humpback whales, orcas, bald eagles, dolphins, etc. Was glad we selected the 6-hour trip as the extra time allowed to see orcas and more whales. Cannot recommend enough!

Our ocean tour with Campbell River Whale Watching and Adventure Tours was nothing short of magical. This wasn’t just sightseeing — it was a full immersion into the untamed wilderness of British Columbia’s coastal waters. From orcas and humpback whales to harbor porpoises, Steller sea lions, bald eagles, and even ancient pictoglyphs, every moment was a discovery. Our guide, Marty, was an absolute gem — not only highly knowledgeable and experienced but also warm, engaging, and truly passionate about the wildlife and waters he calls home. His storytelling gave context to everything we saw, from the orca behavior to the humpback lineage. Every sighting became part of a bigger story. We journeyed through beautifully named channels like Whale Passage (ironically, no whales there this time!), Calm Channel, and Surge Narrows, passing through Hole-in-the-Wall rapids and enjoying lunch near remote Stewart Island. We watched sea lions fishing in packs, flinging fish into the air as flocks of gulls and eagles swooped in for scraps — a wild, chaotic, and breathtaking spectacle of coastal life. And just when we thought the day couldn’t be more complete, Marty pointed us toward a spot where we were lucky enough to spot wild bears later that day — an unexpected gift that made our trip to Vancouver Island feel truly legendary. The boat was safe and comfortable, perfect for all ages. Marty made everyone feel included and excited, from the youngest passenger to seasoned nature lovers. Marty joked that we should tell the world if we had a great time — so here it is: this was one of the best wildlife tours we’ve ever done. If you're visiting Vancouver Island, don’t miss this experience. And if you’re lucky enough to get Marty as your guide, you’re in for something truly special. Highly recommended for families, solo travelers, and anyone who wants to feel the wild heart of British Columbia.

The 6h zodiac tour exceeded all expectations! We saw killer whales, humpbacks, bald eagles, porpoises, sea lions, seals and even a bear! Our guides Becks and Lexy went out of their way to give us the best possible day. Their explanation was very interesting too. Lunch is very tasty too!

Our tour guide/boat captain, Becca. was very knowledgeable & interested that her passengers had a great experience We saw whales, porpoises, tide pools & had a magical experience with hundreds (?) of eagles fishing.

Excellent tour, breath taking views. Brad our tour guide was brilliant, informative and laid back making it an interesting and relaxing time. Plenty of Whale spotting and saw other animals along the way. Thorougly recommend.

What an amazing day we had. Our guide was very knowledgeable . We had a delicious lunch . Saw lots of humpbacks and sea lions . We like the ethos of this company who are carbon negative and give back to conservation. Would definitely recommend . Thank you for such an unforgettable experience .

Fabulous day, beautiful scenery, lots of humpback whales. Sadly no orcas - gutted! - but still a lovely day and a fabulous guide (thank you Jarek!)
