We have been on countless trips via Viator around the world: this one is a Gem & a definite Must Do! You can do this cheaper & in a group but this particular tour can provide a highly unique & memorable lifetime experience. We found this such an authentic & memorable Moroccan adventure, that had so many incredible experiences which we would like to take the time to share with our fellow travellers. Please stay with us through this ‘extended’ review, so that you can get a sense of why we are so impressed! Ismail picked us up on time with a very positive & happy outlook: he clearly loves his work. We chatted freely in English & French while driving along. Our first stop was at a Argan Oil women’s co-op where our host Laima welcomed us: we met some elders who were baking bread & making the oil: WOW! We then sat down for a morning Moroccan snack with mint tea: gorgeous! Even though we couldn’t speak Berber or Arabic we all had a cheerful time together. There was no pressure to buy anything: they were just happy that we had an open mind & took the time to interact with them. Next, Ismail took us to a beautiful stream where an expresso coffee for both of us was delivered to our table, where we enjoyed the moment. At no time throughout the day did we have to reach into our pocket for Moroccan dirham. From there we drove through the first & second of the Atlas Mountains Five valleys. On the third, he stopped the vehicle & invited us to walk the rest of the way to the next valley: here we were introduced to our local guide Yassine. He took us to a local Berber home where we spent time having a wonderful interaction with a family including the farm animals. He also showed us a very old walnut tree, where we ate fresh walnuts. For the next hour we walked up the dirt road chatting with Yassine: he pointed out interesting things & facts along the way. We also interacted with school children. Then we detoured off the road to a local home for lunch: we met the local sisters of Khadija & Aisha who served us a magnificent local meal of cous cous & tagine, plus other bits & pieces, on their rooftop: stunning! Next, we met our driver/guide Ismail and headed off in the vehicle where we enjoyed stunning views of the 4th & 5th valleys & the Atlas Mountains in the foreground. The commentary was fantastic & immersive. He then drove us back to our starting point in Marrakech, completing approximately 10 hrs together. In conclusion, we had great conversations, sharing of information and great day outside of the city of Marrakesh. For us, we rate this as a solid 5 out of 5: we sincerely thank all the individuals we met including the outstanding contribution of our two mentioned guides. What a memorable day! We had a wonderful day trip to Atlas mountains. We had a wonderful guide, Sofyan, he did his best to show things on the way to Atlas mountains, helped us taking pictures during breakfast, lunch, coffee. He also took us to good gifts shops. He is very friendly and genuine person.

This is an experience we will always treasure! When we travel, we always love to find ways to experience the true culture of the country we are in and this is it! We were greeted by Ismail and he guided us all day! He was the best! So full of details, vibrant personality and made us feel like family! We drove to the different valleys where each had unique views, stopped for many picture opportunities (Ismail is also a fantastic photographer), hiked/walked through a village with a local gentleman, and then ate lunch with a local Berber family at their home. Oh and the shopping at a woman owned co op and coffee next to a beautiful river where locals hang out for lunch! One of the things that we loved so much was watching the children wait for Ismail to drive by where we stopped and he gave them candy! We wished we had known that as we would have brought candy, crayons, futbols, or stickers! Oh and a John Deer hat for Ismail! It’s the little things that bring so much joy! If you’re reading this, please add this to your luggage to bring on your tour. Book this tour!!!!! It’s the absolute best tour and we are so thankful we did!

Extraordinary, sublime. A true life lesson with the Berber people. The High Atlas is enchanting and breathtakingly beautiful. The Berber inhabitants are all smiles and sharing.

This was one of the best tours we have taken. The experience was wonderful and it made for a great day exploring the Atlas Mountains and the Berber Culture. Our guide Ismail was incredible and was so knowledgeable about everything Moroccan and we loved his USA facts and comparisons. He really knows how to run a great tour and make you feel at home. The Berber experience was nice and it was the best Tangine we have had. The lunch stop was relaxing and the family was so friendly and kind. Khadija’s cooking was top notch and with the help from her sister Aisha, the lunch was unforgettable. We would highly recommend this tour to anyone looking to create a life long memory.

What a beautiful day! And yet the fog and rain were in! Mohammed was extraordinary: a wealth of comments, anecdotes, exchanges of all kinds, an extreme kindness and generosity and a very good driver. Thanks also to Ali for all his explanations and to the Berber family for the welcome and good authentic cuisine. A tip: fill your pockets with candy for the little ones in the mountains 😁

What a fantastic trip. Ismail picked us up from our hotel on time and was the perfect driver and guide for the trip. He was so friendly and very knowledgeable and taught us so many things about Moroccan culture and the Berber way of life. The landscape was beautiful and even though it was quite cloudy we still saw some lovely views and experienced the landscape of the Atlas Mountains. It must be even more impressive on a clear day. We took the private tour option to give us the flexibility of length of trek and to stop for photos when we wanted. We enjoyed the trip to the women's co-operative for breakfast (bread and delicious honey) and to see the argan oil produced. Next we stopped by the river for a drink at Ourika which was nice. Then as we climbed higher in the car we stopped and had a great walk with Yassine, our local guide, for our trek through the Berber villages, who talked to us about his life and the recovery of the villages from the 2023 earthquake. We then continued on higher through the valleys to take us up to a local family at 2000m for lunch. The food was so good, everything tasted so fresh and Amina (chef), Fatima, Iahsann really looked after us. After lunch we headed back through another 2 valleys, stopping for photos, and back Marrakech. Ismail is an incredible guide and kept us entertained the whole trip. I can thoroughly recommend this trip enough and Ismail as a guide.

Solid a lovely day. Great communication from the tour company and driver. Clean and well maintained vehicle. Good breakfast and quick cooperative shopping. Then a coffee on the water. Then hike (can pick difficulty). Then great lunch at local home and the food was excellent. Lots of great picture spots. And a patient and kind driver. We recommend!

We had a perfect day on this tour with Ismail, our tour guide. He picked us up on time and drove us very carefully throughout the day through all the beautiful valleys of The Atlas Mountains. Ismail was well read and he knew not just about Morocco but the whole world. His knowledge, humor and enthusiasm was contagious. We had a fantastic breakfast of freshly baked bread with honey and amlou with Mint team and Argan oil at local co-op. We enjoyed nice coffee alongside river. Then we walked through number of Berber villages with our guide Simo who grew up in that area. Our lunch was with a Berber family - Fatima and Fatiha. They welcomed us to their home and we had a private lunch of just our family. The food was delicious and made with so much love. All along while listening to Ismail’s stories we took a ton of pictures of the mountains and valleys. This could not have been more perfect day.
