Having looked forward to this trip we received an email from Tripadvisor to state that the tour was cancelled. The issue I have with this was it was too late to book an alternative and no reason was given.
Our guide, Alexis, was a local who had in-depth knowledge of the area. We stopped for local drinks at out of the way places. A memorable day.
Although we had a rental car, we decided to book this tour because we wanted to experience Madeira from a local’s perspective—and what can I say, we were not disappointed. Alex was not only very friendly but also an extremely knowledgeable guide. He patiently answered all of our questions—and there were quite a few—and shared a lot of interesting insights about his homeland. You could really feel his love for his country and the passion with which he conveys it. He also gave us additional tips (including GPS coordinates) for our remaining days in Madeira. Conclusion: SafariCo - an absolutely recommendable agency!
This trip to explore Madeira was the absolute highlight of our cruise stop. While we enjoyed beautiful Funchal, the inland beauty of the island was best experienced on this trip. We really enjoyed seeing all the beautiful viewpoints Madeira had to offer. Getting off-road allowed us to see the "real" Madeira and our guide was knowledgeable and helpful. Highly recommend
This was the most amazing tour with the team giving us spectacular views and ending with a local bar where we were made a poncha by our outstanding guide. I cannot recommend this tour enough.
The tour in the south of the island was very nice—but… We had specifically booked the tour in German, but unfortunately, the driver didn't speak German. He used a translation device for the limited information he gave us as our tour guide. This device worked when we were parked and could be understood even from the back seat. However, the translation couldn't be used while driving, meaning we couldn't ask any questions. When the driver was using the device, the translation was too quiet to be understood from the back seat.

Deshalb verstehen wir besonders gut, dass es enttäuschend war, diese Informationen nicht durchgehend auf Deutsch zu erhalten. Der Fahrer hat versucht, mit einem Übersetzungsgerät zu helfen, damit Sie dennoch möglichst viele Informationen bekommen. Uns ist jedoch bewusst, dass dies nicht dieselbe Qualität bietet wie eine direkte Führung in deutscher Sprache insbesondere während der Fahrt und bei Rückfragen. Dafür möchten wir uns entschuldigen. Wir nehmen Ihr Feedback sehr ernst und werden intern daran arbeiten, solche Situationen in Zukunft zu vermeiden. We had booked a German tour, but the one was unfortunately sick. The tour was then in English but there was a translator if we did not understand information. Our tour guide Andre has given us an unforgettable trip! There were both spots that are typical for tourists, but also some stops that made us experience typical Madeira! Around it was really nice! Offroad was sensational too!
We had a wonderful day with Andre. His knowledge of the island is fantastic and he kept us very entertained. This was one of our favorite parts of our trip. Thanks Andre!
