Our family of five spent over 12 unforgettable hours with Michael, and it was hands down the highlight of our entire trip to Israel. This was so much more than a tour—it was a full-day adventure, history lesson, geology lesson, cultural experience, and family memory all wrapped into one. We explored Masada, Ein Gedi, the Judean Desert, hidden wadis, and the Dead Sea, but what made the day extraordinary was Michael himself. His knowledge is simply incredible. Every stop came alive with stories about the history, geology, wildlife, and biblical significance of the places we visited. He answered every question our family threw at him and somehow made each part of the day more interesting than the last. The off-roading was unbelievable! Michael took us across terrain we never imagined a vehicle could safely navigate. We asked for an adventure, and Michael delivered! We explored remote desert wadis and breathtaking viewpoints that most visitors will never see. Every twist and turn brought another “wow” moment. One of our favorite experiences was reaching a private beach on the Dead Sea where we floated and relaxed away from the crowds. It felt like we had one of the most unique places in Israel completely to ourselves. As if all of that wasn’t enough, Michael prepared a delicious homemade lunch for us. It was such a thoughtful, personal touch that perfectly reflected the care he puts into every aspect of the experience. By the end of the day, Michael no longer felt like a tour guide—he felt like family. He genuinely cared that we had the best possible experience and never rushed us. His warmth, passion, generosity, and love for Israel are contagious. If you’re debating whether to book this tour, don’t hesitate. This isn’t just sightseeing—it’s an unforgettable adventure that your family will talk about for years. We cannot recommend Michael and In Low Gear highly enough, and we hope that we can go on some of his other tours when we come back and see more of the country with Michael. We just did the 4x4 Masada/ Ein Gedi Adventure and it was incredible. First of all, note one thing this is not a tour, it’s an adventure. If you are considering going on one of those packaged tour buses and guides, think again. Michael picked us up at our hotel, and right from the start we took a detour from the main road into the hills of the Judean Desert to places that we didnt even know existed. We made multiple stops along the way with tons of off road excitement. Michael’s Knowledge is incredible. He weaves facts and history together for an incredible educational and engaging day that keeps you wanting more. If you only book one tour book this you will not regret it

We decided to treat ourselves to this trip on our family visit to Israel. It turned out to be the highlight of our stay in Israel. Michael was extremely responsive and informative at every stage of the trip. He’s dedicated to providing a very personal and professional experience. We did Masada, a wadi, and the Dead Sea and stopped for coffee and later a picnic lunch prepared by Michael. ( delicious and Michael thanks for tip on Turkish coffee - I went to the store and bought a whole lot to take back to Miami!) We could not fit everything in as some of the roads were closed due to rains the day before but Michael gave us all our options. His knowledge of the country and its natural parks and treasures is unsurpassed. He also makes the trip interactive. Driving on the four wheel drive down to the waters of the Dead Sea & back up the dunes & bathing in the hot springs was a highlight. Do not miss this trip! Just do it! Melissa- Miami, USA

If you're trying to debate what tour is a "must-do' while in Israel, this one's the one! Absolutely phenomenal. Our guide Michael was so knowledgable and detailed about everything as well as very personable. We were fortunate with traffic the day we went so Michael was able to add a few interesting stops along the way too. This trip truly is an adventure as the name states! We crossed through rugged terrain, dipped into Oasis waterfalls, saw wild Ibex on mountainpeaks, and to end the day we relaxed floating in the dead sea in front of pools of hotsprings. The tour being in a car rather than a big tour bus made the experience far more intimate as well as allowing to travel to places busses can't go off the beaten path. On top of all that Michael provided a delicious picnic lunch prepared by himself! The day was long and absolutely epic, we can't thank Michael enough for such an incredible experience!

Excellent offroading tour of the Judean desert. Michael was knowledgeable and friendly and kept my two teenage daughters (and me) informed, entertained and safe throughout our day together. In addition to stops along the way in the desert, we got a private tour of masada and ein gedi, a visit to a beautiful secluded area of the Dead Sea, with hot springs, only accessible by 4x4, and a delicious lunch and hot tea/coffee/lemonade breaks in the desert. What a wonderful way to see some of the best sights in Israel, I highly recommend this tour.

Michael took us on an amazing adventure! I took my 22 year old daughter and 2 of her friends. He was fun, attentive, enthusiastic and helpful. We had a great time at every stop including an extra camel ride and a late dinner on the way home. If you like fun and adventure, this is a great day!

Michael was wonderful! Very knowledgeable about the area and Israel. We had just finished 4 weeks on an archeological excavation and didn’t want to rush about and spend all day in a vehicle- this was our BEST DAY EVER in Israel! Beautiful Wadi’s, old ruins, a private spot on the Dead Sea and dates! A absolutely perfect day at the perfect relaxing pace. The food Michael made for us was delicious and the mint lemonade very refreshing! This was the perfect birthday gift for my husband. We received a call from Michael the day prior to our tour to explain the extreme temperatures we will be facing on the 4x4 experience. He offered to take us on a 4/4 off-road adventure starting at midnight. The dead sea at night and Masada for the sunrise. It was truly the best decision and we will have memories that will last a lifetime. From our son encountering wild life, to Michael setting up a bonfire right on the Dead sea and stargazing while sipping coffee and tea. That was truly a nice touch! The entire time Michael kept us engaged and interested in our surroundings. We arrived in Masada right before sunrise, We were the first tram up and we experienced the entire citadel for ourselves for some time. Michael kept us engaged and was knowledgeable about the entire Masada experience. On the way back we stopped to have snacks and one last stop by the Dead Sea during the day.
