For context we have visited several countries and several places in the USA. We had the worst experience ever with this helicopter pilot Josh. We knew his name from the receptionist. He was very rude and his face was filled blatantly with hatred. He did not have the decency to introduce himself when we got into the helicopter. He never spoke to us during the flight. It was just myself and my spouse on the trip, but he could care less whether or not we were comfortable when he could have offered us the option to sit at the back where there was more space. We had paid for a 45 minutes trip and he hardly did 25 minutes. While he was descending he had the audacity to ask us for tips. That was the only time he addressed us directly. There were a few more unpleasant incidents regarding this pilot on the flight, but I don't want to elaborate any further on this despicable and obnoxious individual. This person who does not respect other ethnicities except his own is unsuitable for this position. He lacks the ability to interact with other ethnicities due to his hatred for other ethnicities. Action speaks louder than words. He will cost your APEX Air Tour a decrease in revenue. I certainly will not recommend APEX Air Tour to my numerous friends. I would not want my friends to be part of a painful experience with this terrible and entitled individual as we had to experience.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We take guest feedback seriously, and we take allegations concerning the conduct of our pilots especially seriously. However, there are several statements in this review that do not accurately reflect the tour that was purchased, our operating procedures, or the experience described.
First, Josh introduces himself and conducts a passenger safety briefing before departure, as he does with our guests before each flight.
The statement that Josh “never spoke” during the flight is also inconsistent with how this tour is conducted. The Secret Wilderness Tour is a guided scenic helicopter tour. The pilot provides narration throughout the flight, pointing out landmarks, geological formations, and other areas of interest along the route. Providing that narration is part of the tour itself.
Regarding the seating arrangement, this reservation specifically included the purchase of both front seats. It therefore would not have made sense to move the guests into the rear seats they had not selected. More importantly, seating aboard the aircraft is not something the pilot arbitrarily determines. Passenger seating is assigned and verified by our ground crew based on the aircraft's weight-and-balance requirements.
There is also an important factual discrepancy regarding the length of the tour. The review states that a 45-minute flight was purchased. Apex Air Tours does not offer a 45-minute helicopter tour. The tour purchased was our Secret Wilderness Tour, which is advertised as an approximately 30-minute flight that covers 45 miles.
The review then describes Josh as “despicable and obnoxious” while also stating that he supposedly never spoke to the guests during the flight. Those descriptions are difficult to reconcile with one another, particularly when no specific additional incident is identified.
Most concerning are the accusations that Josh has hatred toward or is unable to interact with people of different ethnicities. Those are extremely serious allegations. Josh has flown with Apex Air Tours for nearly five years and has interacted with guests from around the world. In that time, we have never received an accusation of this nature regarding him. Nothing about the circumstances described in this review provides us with a factual basis to support such a characterization.
We absolutely welcome legitimate criticism when we fall short, and we use guest feedback to improve our operation. At the same time, when a public review contains statements that conflict with the reservation details, the structure of the tour, and our operating procedures, we believe it is important to respectfully correct the record.

Lovers in the air
My partner surprised me with this tour right after proposing on our 5-year anniversary, and it was the perfect surprise experience! It was both of our first times on a helicopter and Skylar was extremely helpful in setting everything up over the phone. Tali was very friendly upon our arrival and made sure we were good to go. Steve was our incredible pilot and tour guide. He even played us some tunes to set the mood in the canyon! When the weather turned for the worse on the day we were scheduled for our tours, they were very accommodating in changing our reservation to the day after, which ended up being an unbelievable day to fly. UNBELIEVABLE-Steve and Tally were the best
Unbelievable. I have done a list full off amazing things and this is absolutely at the top. The staff was amazing, the pilot, Steve was second to none. The experience was downright spiritual in nature. The views of the red rock formations and the wilderness were unimaginable. Pictures can't begin to describe.

An adventure you must take
The area is gorgeous, it is worth the adventure. Feel the vortex of excitement. I would suggest the front seat for better views.

Our first helicopter flight
It was an incredible experience. Our first time flying in a helicopter. From the very moment Tali greeted us as we entered their airport office we felt welcomed and reassured this was going to be a memorable experience. After a few minutes we were taken by bus out to the airstrip where the helicopter was waiting. We met Steve, a former military pilot, and were helped into the helicopter. A few instructions were given and off we went. I was surprised by the smooth takeoff, very different than I expected. In fact, much less jarring than pretty much any rollercoaster I had ever experienced. It felt like we were floating at points and then soaring like a bird at other times. It was a once in a lifetime experience. For 30 minutes we enjoyed perspectives of Sedona and surrounding areas that very few people have seen. The canyons especially were exhilarating. I should mention my wife was pretty anxious about flying in a helicopter but our pilot, Steve, was extremely reassuring and responsive to her questions throughout the flight and made her comfortable. We were asked at the end of the flight if we would ever do it again, to which my wife and I replied ABSOLUTELY!

Fun Helicopter Tour
Our helicopter ride with Steve as our pilot was fantastic. He pointed out key focal points and known rock formations. Banking right and left through the area really added a dimension of fun.

A tour NOT to be missed!
The tour was one of the best I have been on. The pilot was very knowledgable and funny. The staff were friendly, gave information of surrounding area. Next time I will take a longer tour. The views of places I would never hike to were stunning and we saw a lot of ancient dwellings of 4,000 to 5,000 years old.
