The journey was very well organized, and the accommodations were really nice. My guide, Paul Santa, was fantastic. He was always telling us stories and legends about the places we visited, as well as sharing historical events and facts. He has a genuine enthusiasm for his job and was able to share that enthusiasm with all of us. I highly recommend this experience, both for solo travelers and for groups!

Hate it
there is a big race between tour operators on who will offer more attractions during your trip. that way it feels more value for the same money. in reality there is so many things a human being can do in a day, given a certain number of kilometers. so unless you are teletrasported, many will be skipped anyway, with an excuse or another. at the end they will be all the same. like in this tour or any other of any other company of the kind. I would suggest to look up for trips/tour operators that point in the opposite direction. fewer stops. for example in this 4 days trip we were given between 10 to 30 minutes of break each 2 hours travel (more or less). one hour if we had lunch and major attraction as a castle. that means we were living on the bus, that means I would need to choose between toilet queue, visit to the castle, lunch queue. because we had one hour. most of the time it was a run between things. I just come back and I have no idea what I visited. I could have never been there I would feel the same. For this reason I would suggest highlands minimum 2 days. Skye minimum three days. because beside the old excuse of the bad weather as a surprise, skye weather is unpredictable and very often bad. so one needs to stay enough hopping for the sky to open and actually see something. Skye in bad weather get invisible because of the mist. in addition the droplets on the window blur everything. at the end a waste of time. a very expensive one. So I would suggest to look for tour operators that offer 2 hours break for lunch if an attraction is involved. and don't enlist what you will see. I was running from one place to another to stick to the timetable even if the weather was really bad. Maybe it would be better in case of heavy rain to come up with a plan B, improvise a place to go that in that moment is not too wet, with a roof such as a castle o museum, and make a longer stop. By the way, skye is sold as a piece of cake, good for everybody to make it more saleable. it is not. it is easy to get super wet and catch something, and when is not wet, it is infested of insets that bites. the trip is advertised as a cosy intimate 16 passenger pulman. at the end it is 16 people with 16 different needs. so AC at 17 degrees right on the face can be a reality. overall I foundthe trip very stressful, little informative, very commercial, and expensive. the accommodations were good though. last thing, drop the steam train. the motor was on steam but i was traveling in old 70' wagon. not worth it unless you are an Harry Potter fun. in addition the train ends at the ferry for skye. if the ferry is running you will probably have nausea as see is rarely calm. if the ferry is canceled because of see condition, 4 hours of drive will be added to the journey (10 hours in total in 1 day). so the idea jacobin train plus skie island is a very bad idea.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're sorry to hear the tour did not meet your expectations. Our 4-day tour is designed to showcase a wide range of Highland and Isle of Skye highlights, which inevitably involves time spent travelling between destinations.
We appreciate that some travellers prefer a slower paced itinerary with longer stops, and it sounds as though that may have been a better fit for your travel style. We also understand how challenging Scottish weather can be, and how this can affect the experience. Sadly without the weather, we would not have a rich variety of lochs and glens to enjoy. Thank you again for sharing your comments and suggestions.

4 wonderful days went by in a flash! What an amazing tour!
I took the 3 days tour to Skye a good number of times, they were all amazing and different every time. This 4 day tour was incredible. Neil was very attentive and professional, a walking history & geology book in a kilt with a splash of good humour! We covered so much in this tour while never feeling rushed. I highly recommend it! Thanks for another wonderful adventure, Timberbush!
