Highly recommended if you want to wander a bit off the beaten tourist path!
In addition to preparing the food, Deborah shares a great deal of knowledge about Mallorcan food and the way of life itself. The market in Palma is a must if you are eating in Palma! Thank you very much for the great and also practical recipes! I will certainly come back again!

Mallorcan cooking
We had an interesting tour of the Mercat de l'Olivar and learned a lot about the Mallorcan way of life, the way of cooking, and the origin of many products. Afterward, we prepared three different delicious courses based on the various types of tomatoes in Deborah's nearby studio and ate them together. We enjoyed it very much.

Highlight of two-week vacation!
We're just home from two weeks traveling through Spain with our extended family and one experience keeps coming back to me - our day with Deborah at Forn de sa Llotgeta.
Our cooking experience was on our first day in Mallorca, which immediately gave us a deeper appreciation of the place we were visiting. The experience begins with a market tour, where Deborah used what we were seeing around us as visual cues to teach us about Mallorca's culinary history – it's culture, traditions, the agriculture of ingredients and wine – as well as how the island fits into the broader story of Spain.
We were a group of nine with different levels of cooking experience (and interests!), yet every one of us participated meaningfully and was equally engaged. Deborah has such a lovely, easy manner that it felt less like taking a cooking class and more like being invited to a friend's home. The space itself is a precious relic of Mallorca's baking history, and Deborah weaves the history of the island and her knowledge of local ingredients so naturally into stories and conversation that you hardly realize you're learning.
We were so appreciative that Deborah was able to personalize the menu around our preferences so effortlessly that it never felt a like a compromise or an accommodation. It simply felt like how we ourselves might eat if we were locals in Mallorca (only in the most elevated possible way).
Now that we're home, someone asked me to name the best meal of our trip to Spain. An image of our family sitting around the table of Forn de sa Llotgeta immediately springs to mind. It represents everything I appreciate most about travel: experiencing a new culture, learning something meaningful about a place, sharing it with family, and feeling utterly content.

Down-to-earth Mallorca
Deborah not only offers a fantastic tour of the market with many interesting insights into Mallorcan culture and cuisine, but also a truly wonderful and personal cooking class. Down-to-earth, really easy-to-make, and delicious recipes. I would gladly return in another season!

Ensaimada Baking Workshop
We absolutely loved our ensaimada workshop with Deborah and Josep at Forn de sa Llotgeta. It was one of the most special experiences of our time in Mallorca.
We are a family of four, with very different levels of baking interest and experience. I love to bake, my teens bake occasionally, and my husband does not bake at all, but somehow the workshop was equally wonderful for each of us. Deborah and Josep immediately made everyone feel welcome, comfortable, and engaged.
The setting itself is unforgettable. The workshop takes place in a beautiful old bakery, “forn” meaning both oven and bakery, that feels full of history. Walking into the space felt a little like stepping back in time. It was intimate, atmospheric, and completely different from anything we could have experienced in a more typical cooking class.
What made it so memorable, though, was Deborah and Josep. They were warm, generous, patient, and so inviting. It honestly felt less like a formal class and more like being welcomed into the kitchen of old friends who were teaching us a treasured family recipe. We learned how to make ensaimadas, of course, but we also learned so much about Mallorcan culture, history, and tradition along the way, including why ensaimada is such a beloved and meaningful part of life on the island.
It was hands-on, meaningful, relaxed, and deeply personal. I would highly recommend this workshop to anyone visiting Mallorca, whether you love to bake or are simply looking for a beautiful, authentic experience of the island

Cooking class for all skill levels
Josef was a great tour guide through the market and explained the history of the food and the sustainable lifestyle as generations have changed. It was interesting to learn about the evolution of food practices. We then headed to the cooking space in a beautiful old building that was well appointed for our experience. In our small group of five guests we were given instruction on what we cooked and he made it enjoyable. We prepared a simple meal including a flatbread appetizer with zucchini, carmelized onions and olive tapenade, a main dish to the region made with pork and vegetables, and a pie crust type pocket with apricot jam. After the preparation, Josef served our lunch with simple dry white wine. It was a great way to spend an afternoon. Highly recommend. Note to go early if you want to shop at the mercat d’Olivar as it will be closed after the conclusion of the event.

A unique culinary experience
A wonderful and truly authentic experience. I loved the way the guide linked the cuisine to the history and daily life of the local market. Everything felt personal, was clearly explained and was done with great care. Highly recommended if you want to experience something different, like to see Mallorca from the inside.

We expected more for the money we paid
We expected more from our cooking class for the price we paid. We hoped to cook some fish and meat but we cooked a basic vegetable stew with eggs. The food was good but basic. That was disappointing given that the olive market offered so many different kinds of fish. .

Maravilloso
A truly beautiful family experience that we will not forget anytime soon!
Even the joint purchase in the market hall in Palma was very special – with many interesting explanations about the Mallorcan products and their origin. Afterwards, cooking together in a traditional way and eating everything together in a relaxed atmosphere was just perfect.
So warm, authentic and made with a lot of love – an absolute recommendation for anyone who wants to experience Mallorca culinary!
