With my third visit to Ireland, I have to say this one, by far, was the most exciting one yet. Traveling with a family can come with added challenges /logisitcs- and Railtours Ireland made it easy. Action packed and in my opinion a great value! We enjoyed our guide, Brian, along with his personal wit, perspective, and knowledge; as we traveled by bus and rail across the country. So many wonderful stops and excursions on our The Grand Atlantic tour package. Postcard views! Anthony and Paul and all the safe drivers, who kept our travel logistics unfazed with so many great suggestions to supplement our itinerary. Big thank you to the collaborative staff behind the scenes.
Our exact tour was not listed, but we did a six day rail tours. Going to Killarney, Connamara, the Erynne Islands, and Giants Causeway. I have to command our tour guides, I don't have last names but we had John, Andrew, Peter, Tim, and Joe. They were excellent. Friendly outgoing, and extremely helpful. We only had one, and I won't mention his name who was less than friendly. Everything was reasonably well organized for such a lot of movement. Lots of bus riding, which isn't always the most fun, but we managed it. The trains were fine. We took a train from Dublin to Galway, and a train from Dublin to Belfast, the Titanic museum was great. Unfortunately, we had terrible weather for 90% of the trip, rain and cold, but that's no one's fault. We're leaving tomorrow and the weather has already warmed up in the sun came out today.
Dear Betty P, Thank you for your 4* review. We are glad you enjoyed the tour and that our hosts gave a warm welcome to Ireland. Kind regards, The Railtours Ireland Team
Wonderful tour! Our guide was Peter and he was VERY knowledgeable. The hotels we stayed in were fantastic! There was the right mix of touring and free time!! This is a must do!

We had an incredible experience on our trip to Ireland! Traveling with a group of six can sometimes be challenging, but everything was seamless. A special shoutout to our tour guide, Paul O'Neill - he truly made the trip UNFORGETTABLE. His knowledge, personality, and ability to connect with our group set him apart. He went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable, engaged, and experiencing the very best of Ireland. Simply put, Paul is THE BEST. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and would highly recommend this company to anyone planning a trip. Five stars all the way!

Just back from a really wonderful tour of Ireland. Our guide for Connemara and bus driver was excellent. Shane explained well the history of Ireland but best of all he spoke about the how and why of the many interesting things that were unique to the region. Norman our guide for the first few days kept us well informed. And John guided us happily and easily back to Dublin on the train. Thank you to everyone for making my holiday an enjoyable and memorable experience.

A friend and I recently completed the 4-day Wild Atlantic Way tour with Railtours Ireland. What a great experience! We were able to see and learn so much, starting out at Blarney Castle, touring the Ring of Kerry, battling the wind to climb up the Cliffs of Moher, and so much more! Paul was our tour guide for most of the trip and he was organized, knowledgable, fun, and clearly understood how to meet the needs of the group. He arranged lunches and stops at places of interest along the way each day. We also had, at times on the trip, Andrew, Sean the bus driver, and a few other characters. Everyone was super accommodating, kept everyone on schedule, and provided all the necessary information for us to get the most out of each day. We would highly recommend this tour if you want a good pace of travel and a nice slice of Ireland.

We took the Royal Atlantic Tour on Railtours Ireland in June 2025, and it was fantastic! Leaving Dublin, we went to Kilarney for two nights and then to Galway for two nights, with several stops in between. The scenery was breathtaking, and the sites were amazing. Our guide Peter was a perfect combination of local and historical knowledge. He always made sure we knew where we were going, what we were doing and when we needed to be back on the train or coach. The five days was the perfect amount of time to see what we wanted to see in southwestern Ireland.
It was a beautiful and comprehensive tour, and highly organized. The guides were all very knowledgeable. My kids and I especially appreciated John Todd and Ian. Ian is a fascinating and accomplished man and spent hours talking with us. We didn't feel we had enough time to explore our favorite destinations, but since the point seems to be to give you an idea of what you want to see more of in the future, it did the job.
Ring of Kerry and Cliffs of Moher were great. I wish I had more information on Connemarra, specially the Abbey. There was a lot to cover and I would have laid out my plans better. I missed the gardens totally, I felt I wasted my time going to the Gothic building, a long walk with no return. We needed to get our lunch in before our long travels back to Dublin. We then made a 30 min stop soon after leaving, no value, would have rather have the 30 mins at the abby.
BEWARE: NO 24-hour contact available for any issues and the tour is not a consistent 4 day tour but you are passed between partner company tours. I followed up with them and they will not provide a contact to their customers following my husband and I being left at a Taxi station waiting to meet up with our transfer guide. He was an hour late and did not realize we were missing from his meet up. During the hour we waited, another tour guide from Lally's tours fortunately helped us search the train station and coach tour drivers and make calls for a meet up and for contact number in hopes we could get in touch with someone so we could figure out how to get back from Galway to Dublin. While the individual tours are delightful, you may be shuffled between a multitude of contacts each day. It takes only one leg of the tour to fall and your first class customer experience is blown. Below is a detailed review of our tour: Day 1: Rail tour to Blarney Castle, Cork and Cobh - John was a great guide narratively as well as navigating how to get to the the Blarney Stone line so that we did not waste time in line. He was generous in showing us the grounds of Blarney Castle. I would recommend this day tour from Dublin but if multi-day you are shifted to a new Railtour host to get to Killarney. Plaza Hotel in Killarney is great...great location. Guide told us you can get "to go" continental breakfast but you have to ORDER it at the hotel. Some guests did not and did not have a breakfast on Day 3. Day 2: We went with Deros tours to Rink of Kerry. A few optional spots are stopped at not noted in the itinerary ...which are not included in tour (8 Euros for Sheep Dog Demonstration). Ate at charming pub. Our driver decided to skip Sneem due to the number of buses in city, which was disappointing. He stopped elsewhere, but it was NOT a town. Day 3: Cliffs of Moher was great and I feel we had adequate time to explore as long as you are agile (I think 1.5 hours). Eat in nice location on way. End in Galway at Harbor Hotel. This Hotel is fine...not as great as Plaza but still fine. Day 4: Connemara: Had Colleen with Lally's tours. She was fabulous and grew up in the area and knew a lot. Kylemore Abbey and the surrounding lands were fabulous!!! Martin was a great driver. Transfer Guide DID NOT MEET US AS NEEDED AND OFFICE CLOSED. We were left trying to contact miscellaneous partner tours to track down someone who could reach our contact with the tix and alternative method back to Dublin due to Train Issues. A CONTACT NUMBER WOULD HAVE SOLVED THIS. IN A DAY AND AGE OF MOBILE PHONES...An after hours contact number was NEEDED. My tour guide from previous tour we tracked down on streets and she helped make calls for us. WE paid her for her extra time where our tour lacked the service.
