Johnny was a great guide. He was very informative and caring and made sure we all stayed safe. Great person to be around and he made the trip extremely fun for my friends and I.
Unbelievable experience with Conde Travel — highly recommend them for anyone heading to Peru. Everything was well organised, safe, and seamless from start to finish. A special shoutout to our amazing tour guide, Jhimmy, whose knowledge, energy, and passion made the journey even more memorable. He kept us motivated through every one of those 2,000 stairs and brought the history of the Incan civilization to life. An experience I’ll never forget — thank you, Conde Travel and Jhimmy!
If you're booking the Inca Trail go with a different company. Working with Flor was a NIGHTMARE for my family. Story: My husband and I had booked the Inca trail significantly in advance (5 months) of our trip, along with my parents and sister and brother-in-law. We payed $700 up-front. We noted that that cancellation policy stated that the first half that you pay in advance is non-refundable, which we understood, but that if someone cancels more than 48 hours in advance of the trek they need not pay the second half. Anyway, we cancel my husband's portion due to work a month in advance. Suddenly, Flor tells me that I can't go on the trip unless I pay the second portion for my husband, an additional $400. I remind her of the cancellation policy, which she states has all along said that I have to pay the whole price up front. Confused, my husband and I looked at the cancellation policy again (my husband is an attorney), which states you need not pay the second half unless you cancel 48 hours in advance. In addition, if they normally had people pay everything upfront (I believe she was bluffing to try to extort money), the website would not have had an option to pay only half initially *and* stated the policy for paying the second half so clearly. I was a bit upset, but still wanted to go on this trip with my family due to the many costs that I can't recoup (flight tickets, hotels, excursions, etc.). I show up at the office to argue my case, and Flor continues to deny me the ability to attend the trek without paying for my husband's costs. I anticipate at this point that if they have me pay for two people, surely I will be treated as two people, with double the amount of weight carried for me by porters, double the sleeping bags/pads, a full tent to myself (a tent was promised to each couple for the trek). WRONG. When the porters are taking our things the first morning, I note that I have been allotted the same amount of weight to the porters as everyone else, meaning I have to carry additional items in my daypack. I was initially fine with that, thinking that at least I would have a private tent and two sleeping bags to cozy up into when I slept. At the end of the first day of the trek we finally get into camp, and I see that only two tents have been erected for five people. Confused, I ask where the tent is that I was supposed to share with my husband. They respond that I would be sharing a small, quaint tent with my parents. Now I ask: would you like to share a small tent with your parents as a 27-year-old after they and you got sweaty after a full day of hiking, with zero privacy, whilst you were on your menstrual cycle and hoping to have a place to unwind, take pills to get rid of cramps, and to be able to change and have a moment to yourself? Nope. You wouldn't. Me either. My idea of fun is not spending 24 hours a day with my parents when I'm tired and exhausted. At the thought of having to spend the night with my parents I burst into frustrated tears. Surprised, the porters and our guide asked me what was wrong. I responded that I had payed double the typical hiker (against the company's policies) and expected to at least have a tent to myself, as I had been promised. Kindly yet begrudgingly, they scrambled and were able to find me a tent in the local town within three hours. But I certainly was not treated as the two full Inca Trek prices I had paid. Flor had stated the Inca Trail permits, train tickets, and Machu Picchu tickets as a reason that we had to pay the additional second half for my husband. I have calculated that ALL tickets and permits came out to under $140 per person. Meaning, they were still making money off of my husband's initial payment of $350. I figured that they had bought all of these in advance. Nope. While I think that they *did* buy the permits for Machu Picchu and the Inca Trail for him, they didn't buy everything in advance. When we got to the train ride back to the hotel from Machu Picchu I was looking forward to sitting with my family. Unfortunately, the seat setup has four people facing each other. Thus, my parents and sister and brother-in-law were in the same set of four. Well, at least I would have my husband's extra seat to spread out a little in my section, right? Again, WRONG. They hadn't even paid for a seat for him, meaning that Flor had lied to my face that they bought the train ticket in advance. I ended up sitting with an amicable group, however certainly missed the additional space that had been promised to me. I felt throughout this experience that I had been extorted for money without consideration for me and my experience and in utter disregard for their own cancellation policies. I already felt sad that my husband couldn't come, and they not only rubbed it in my face, but didn't treat me as the full two people I had paid for. Given that many of the porters are hired the same day the trek begins, they had plenty of advance notice to adjust their crew size, and did not need the additional funds they took from me. I recommend you seek a different tour company (one with a toilet tent! And who carry additional weight for you on the trek). I loved our guide Jose, and adored seeing the fun ruins and sights! And all the llamas. But long story short: you could have a better time with a more moral company that actually follows their policies. Choose wisely!
We appreciate your feedback which strengthens our service and attention! We did all the investigations of your case since the beginning of your reservation and we have come up with the following answer: We understand your discomfort and inconvenience however we have specific reservation policies for Inka Trail traditional route 4 days shown in article 15 where it's indicated that the reservation must be 100% paid in advance and there are no refunds. Our assistance staff in this case Flor always gave timely assistance to your family with all the correct information also gave special consideration and lowered the prices adjusting them in consideration to your parents who came after a postponement by COVID. On the other hand indicates that you did not give a personal tent, which is not true because it takes all the equipment and the tents can only use by two people, according to references from the guide on the first night of the cold weather in the area you decided to share with their parents, worth mentioning that on this route you can not get tents at random because there are no houses or nearby towns where to get them. Also, our package does not include a sleeping bag if you want one you could make a reservation for this. The Porters were always willing to help you and carried more than the allowed kilos assisting your whole family not just you. As for the train you mentioned your seat was booked and you had everyone's printed tickets on hand. We only see that you made this comment after 3 months for not agreeing to your requested refund as it is not founded since we fulfilled you and your contracted service at all times. We appreciate your time and trust!
Amazing trip! Words can’t describe how wonderful this was. The food and service was excellent, they had plenty of people caring for us. Our guide Jose was terrific, he was very knowledgeable on the Camino and the culture. Most of all he was so excited to share his culture with us. He truly loved his job. It was very rewarding to learn about Peru and the Incas with such wonderful team.
Hiking the Inca Trail with Conde Travel and our tour guide Jose was a wonderful experience. We had a much smaller group of three couples compared to most other companies on the trail, which allowed us to set our own pace and felt more like a private tour. Jose was such a supportive and friendly guide, our entire group loved hiking and learning with him. We miss him already! The views are incredible, but the people made the experience so much better. The porters and chef were fantastic and all the food was delicious. They even managed to find the ingredients to make a cake after finding out my birthday was at the end of the hike while already two days into the trail. Highly recommend Conde Travel for a more personalized experience hiking the Inca Trail!
I highly recommend that you select conde travel if you choose to hike the Incan trail. They prioritize smaller groups which made the group bond a lot more and it was easier for everyone for hike at their own pace. Some other companies have over 15 people, which seems cumbersome and less intimate. Jose was a great guide. He was knowledgeable about the history, the trail, and managed a fun trek. The porter team was also top notch. The food was great and copious. Honestly, I don’t have any negative things to say.
I’m a beginner hiker and new to this kind of activity so I didn’t know what to expect, on our arrival Jose was extremely open, helpful, and informative. He covered every imaginable corner you could and will face on the activity and gave us tips needed to fully enjoy every second of it. During the hike with amazing views he would set times for us to take our instagram worthy photos and would even be our cameraman and would make sure we liked the photos. He even organized a birthday cake surprise for one of our friends on the hike whose birthday landed on the last day. If your looking to checkout any kind of activity in Peru like Machu Picchu or rainbow mountain and anything around it I recommend asking for Jose to truly enjoy everything you paid for!
An amazing adventure great views every day. Jose our guide was knowledgeable about the Inca ruins and very patient with our slower group. The view of Machu Picchu at the end makes it all worth it!
the experience was absolutely amazing. i can't speak spanish but also got lots of knowledge. food is also very good, i really enjoy all of the moment. mucho gracious !
They were able to get us a train, bus and coordinate the obtaining of the 1000 tickets that they deliver daily in less than 48 hours. On a Friday at 9:00 p.m. we requested the tour for the next day. They told us that it was very complex, but they provided us with a plan B where we could climb successfully and without setbacks on Sunday from Aguas Calientes.
