Akis and his executive 220cc air conditioned Mercedes was the best decision we made of our cruise. It would have been horrendous to do the tour on a minibus or coach. This was very special private executive service with all the knowledge and insider info of a local family. Really this is the best value €220 for upto 4 people for 4 hours - much better value than anything from a ship or other tour.
Also he recommended us to go to Fanari Restaurant which looks understated but we had really good sea bream and I, who have lived all of the world had the best calamari of anywhere.

Beautiful Santorini, Impossible Logistics
While we might recommend this tour to others, it would be with a very heavy caveat: don't expect to make a morning tour if you're coming off of a cruise ship. With input from our tour contact, I decided to reserve our tour for 11 a.m., thinking we'd be able to make it. But with five cruise ships in the water, they needed to pause disembarkation and transport by the tender boats for quite a while (there is only so much room for people at the base of the cable cars) and then, even once our tender boat dropped us off, we waited for more than an hour to get onto a cable car to the top. So, with just 2 hours left in our allotted time, we ended up paying $350 for the four of us to visit just two locations in Santorini (and we had to rush). Also noting that the tour promises a passenger van but we were squeezed into a compact SUV (my husband and two sons are all between 6' 2" and 6' 4" so this was very tight). If we'd had more time, I'd obviously have been happier with this experience but, from what our driver and others familiar with the situation on Santorini told us, the daily overcrowding and chaos at the cable car site has become the norm. So I'd recommend just hiring a taxi once you're up at the top - save yourself the money and disappointment!
