What a unique and cool experience! Not only was the actual hunt fun and educational, but the meal was amazing!!! Absolutely would recommend!

We were instantly made to feel welcome by this warm & friendly family. Our visit started with some local liquers - totally unlike anything back home. After chatting for a bit, we made our way into the "restaurant" area. We were seated at two tables (we were a large group), while Petra explained about truffles, their history, the varieties, etc. During this time, we enjoyed local meats & cheeses while Petra prepared scrambled eggs with truffles. After eating our fill, we joined Miro and his dogs (Jackie & Ella) on a truffle hunt. We walked thru the woods for about an hours, watching the dogs look for truffles. They found several on our trek. Pretty amazing experience It was a wonderful example of the local culture and history. Can't recommend it enough

Someone come get your nonna, holy cow this place was amazing. The truffle hunt was informative and interactive, the right length of time. Great with my 5 and 9 year old. You felt personally apart of this family, they made extra truffle free scramble eggs for my picky eater 5yr old, the place was so inviting. It felt like visiting family on the weekend. It was so cool to watch the dogs work. I highly recommend this experience.

This was such a fun way to learn about the exotic truffle, both black and white. The three of us really didn’t know anything about how truffles are found, what constitutes a good truffle or a bad one, why dogs are used in Croatia, what the seasons are for truffle hunting. We were met graciously when we arrived a bit early and offered three different brandies and elderberry water. We were introduced to Miro, who owns this enterprise, told what would happen and what we should expect. The dogs clearly understood what was to happen. They were in their kennels, excitedly barking waiting to hop in the van to go to the forest. After a short drive to the forest, Miro explained that he had a license from the government to enable him to hunt truffles. He also has land on which he planted some 250 trees of different kinds. Just recently, after about 13 years, his dogs found a truffle at the base of one of the trees. We walked into the forest with Miro and the two dogs. He encouraged the dogs to hunt and within a few minutes they vigorously started digging. He pushed them out of the way, pulling up a black truffle which we passed around and smelled. The dogs subsequently sniffed several white truffles. We returned to Miro’s home and store, enjoyed an excellent lunch during which truffles were used in every course. We sampled dishes that had either white truffles or black, helping us to taste the difference. The explanations were clear, the food was excellent, the very nice white wine was local.

We had a fabulous experience. Loved our host, Layla & Jackie. We learned much about truffles. The information & luncheon that followed was exceptional.

We had such a great time with Miro and his two dogs, as we walked through the beautiful forest around Motovun, Croatia. The dogs sniffed out several black truffles today, and then we ate them as a delicious brunch was prepared for us! Highly recommend this adventure if you’re anywhere near Motovun area!

This is a must do lunch. The guide is very knowledgeable and the food was delicious. The truffle was very tasty and something I will cook with more often.

This was an absolutely wonderful experience from start to finish! Our guide was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and educational, making the experience both fun and interesting. The food was more than exceptional—it was honestly such a pleasant surprise! Everything was delicious, and the truffle experience exceeded our expectations. You could really tell how much care went into the food and the overall experience. And of course, the truffle-hunting dogs were an experience all on their own! 😂 They were so entertaining and definitely added to the fun and charm of the experience. If you’re visiting Istria, this is a must-do experience. I would absolutely recommend it! It was worth the money!
