Booking an Amalfi + Positano excursion via our hotel, with our dog — announced in advance, muzzle available if needed. Result: flat-out refusal at boarding. The problem is not the refusal of animals in itself: it is a commercial choice that each company is free to make. The problem is that this policy is not indicated anywhere — neither on their site, nor mentioned on the phone when booking. We traveled there, with a dog perfectly accustomed to boats (vaporetti in Venice and Murano, Lakes Como and Garda, no issues anywhere else), only to be turned away on the dock in front of everyone. And the manner: a harsh welcome, an abrupt and rude tone, not the slightest kindness, very limited English coupled with a total lack of willingness to make the effort. We were clearly not the only ones affected: the staff treats tourists like cattle to be herded on and off, not like customers paying for a service. Sorrento and its region are full of serious alternatives for reaching Positano and Amalfi. Spare yourself this experience and book elsewhere.
