Hello Mitra, Thank you for sharing your experience. We are sorry that the situation was frustrating and that the process took more time than expected. We would like to clarify an important point regarding this reservation. Your tour was booked and paid for through Viator, which acts as the booking intermediary. Arenal Rafting is the local operator responsible for providing the rafting experience, but we do not have direct access to modify, cancel, or refund reservations made through Viator. Any changes or cancellation requests must therefore be processed through the platform where the reservation was made, according to the terms and conditions of that booking. When you contacted us the day before the tour, our team repeatedly explained this procedure and directed you to Viator because they were the company that processed your payment and managed your reservation. We understand that this may have been frustrating, particularly when you were trying to find a solution at short notice. However, our agents were following the correct procedure and did not have the ability to make the requested change directly in the Viator reservation. We also want to clarify that the policy you referenced regarding changes before 8:00 PM Costa Rica time applies to reservations made directly with Arenal Rafting. Reservations made through third-party platforms are subject to the terms and conditions of the respective booking platform. In this case, Viator's cancellation and modification conditions applied to your reservation. Regarding your request for an exception, we always appreciate the opportunity to accommodate our guests whenever operationally and procedurally possible. However, an exception is not something we can guarantee, particularly when the reservation is managed and paid through a third-party platform. Our team could not independently promise a future date change or transfer of the booking without authorization from the booking provider. We are genuinely sorry that this experience left you feeling that our team was unwilling to help. That was never our intention. We understand your perspective and appreciate your feedback regarding communication. At the same time, we hope this clarification helps explain why our staff directed you back to Viator and why we were unable to make the requested change ourselves.
