Long walk on a hot day

We chose the walking tour with no add-ons. The 1st hour we went to the fish market at Lake Victoria and through another market and stopped briefly at a special needs school having field day. We then were back at the mall. Not much info about or interaction with vendors. We then got Rolex which was very enjoyable. We then walked by schools and the President's residence but not much info. We walked through the bigger market and Tuesday market but we didn't stop anywhere- just cruised through. Our guide walked back to our hotel with us . The trip lasted 4+ hours and my watch recorded 6 miles. It was a very hot day. Many people would not be able to do this trip.

Entebbe Walking Tour – A Simple Introduction to Local Life

This walking tour offers a straightforward introduction to Entebbe. It involves quite a bit of walking, covering a fair distance through town, though in terms of content I found it relatively simple compared to other tours during my trip. The highlight was undoubtedly the visit to the Botanical Gardens. The towering trees, open lawns and roaming geese create a peaceful atmosphere. Watching vervet monkeys move freely through the canopy was especially memorable. It’s a beautiful green space and gives a genuine sense of Entebbe’s relaxed, lakeside character. The walk through town provides glimpses of everyday life — smoked fish stalls, colourful fabrics, quiet church courtyards and streets moving at an unhurried local rhythm. Entebbe feels grounded and unfiltered, and the tour does capture that authenticity. That said, while the tour covers a considerable amount of ground. I felt the tour could have benefited from deeper storytelling, more historical context, or more thoughtfully selected stops to make the experience more engaging and purposeful. Overall, this tour is suitable if you enjoy walking and want a casual introduction to Entebbe. However, travellers seeking a more structured, immersive or insight-driven experience may find it somewhat limited.

Something you should do 1st time visit to a new place

A chilled, insightful, educational walking tour of Entebbe. Great value for money. I recommend it to all 1st time visitors.

My brief stay in Entebbe

In November 2025, my work trip to Entebbe, Uganda, was instantly transformed by two brief, unforgettable visits. I spent my limited free time at the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre (UWEC) and the Entebbe Botanical Gardens. The UWEC is like a sanctuary, offering an immediate immersion into Uganda's wildlife. I was fortune to see various species, including lions, elephants, chimpanzees, and the rare shoebill stork. The Botanical Gardens also offered a serene, lush escape, with over 500 plant species in a peaceful setting. Though short, these visits provided a vital break from my schedule, showcasing Uganda's rich biodiversity and commitment to conservation. They were the most memorable part of my trip.

Wonderful experience from the first moment

Wonderful experience, where you can experience some real life in Entebbe. Great! Visit to the local fish market and local market, artisan area where you can buy some gifts; local food (rolex) in a charming place. Visit to the botanical garden, with spectacular views.

Fun at the Zoo and Fish Market

Our tour guide was warm, friendly and knowledgeable. We had a great walk and saw the lively fish market in action. Then we went to the Entebbe Zoo and saw an amazing amount of animals. Lions, a tiger, giraffes, bamboos, snakes, monkeys and much more! Our guide Viola knew all about the animals and how to get to them. She persuaded us to take a bouda-bouda back to the hotel and it was great fun !!

This is a scam. Do not book it.

This is a scam. There was no actual tour. I paid online with my credit card and no one showed up at the designated time and location for the meeting spot. I discovered from the botanical gardens staff that it is not possible to purchase tickets remotely online and that I had been scammed

April 2024 walking tour with Viola - great experience

I had a great time on this walking tour, I was the only person, and Viola was lovely. She was professional yet warm and friendly - the prefect walking guide. We walked around streets seeing the more established homes and then homes that are poorer. We saw schools with the children and caregivers walking home for the end of term holidays. Saw the market and shops along the roadside. Saw the famous Lake Victoria Hotel and got to the Rolex Guy to taste the best rolex in the country! I recommend this walking tour as a great way to introduce yourself to Entebbe.

Not informative, parts were skipped without my knowledge

This tour was not informative at all, I felt more like in an interview about my home country in Europe instead of proactively being told about Entebbe and Uganda. I have read the reviews after the tour and had to realize that parts were skipped without telling me during the tour (e.g. not visited Victoria Hotel or the Food stall to taste local food, …) - No wonder my tour took only 2 1/2 hours (from 09:10-11:40, including Botanical Gardens) instead of 4 hours…
