A wonderful day in a wonderful place, led expertly by our wonderful guide Ryan, who tailored the day to suit all on the tour. He even adapted the morning pickups to collect everyone directly at the hotel.

Our driver had a major language barrier. If the tour was supposed to be a guided tour, it failed miserably. Nice guy, not his fault that he hasn’t been given the tools to succeed in meeting the needs of his customers. If he didn’t feel comfortable it could be prerecorded and played on the LOOOOOONG drive. Let’s talk about 10 passengers crammed in a van for 6-8 hours of driving. If not more! Very uncomfortable. Sardines have more room. 12 ish hours used for 2 1.5 hour “hikes”. I personally felt ripped off. Again, the driver made the best of the situation but fundamentally it is not as advertised, and is not well planned. Let’s chat lunch…. Sandwiches stored for hours with no cooler—someone is going to get sick! And the selection— not great. Again, not the driver—but the planning of the outing by the tour company. I expect better from Viator, having used them in other cities in and out of the US. I don’t know if it coincidental but my two worst experiences were in Seattle. The hop on hop off tour was also abysmal.

We had an amazing experience on this tour! Hurricane Ridge was very foggy during our visit, so I recommend planning accordingly and remembering that mountain weather can change quickly. We didn’t see much wildlife, but we were lucky enough to spot a few deer. It’s best to manage your expectations because no two tours will be exactly the same. The experience may vary depending on the weather, wildlife, road conditions, and the group you’re traveling with. There was a small hiccup within our group before we headed home, which put us a few minutes behind schedule and caused us to return a little later than planned. Our driver—Phil, if I remember correctly—handled it very well. He quickly rerouted us through Kingston, where we were able to catch the 7:45 p.m. ferry. The change of route became an unexpected highlight. Without that brief delay, we probably wouldn’t have gotten to see the charming little town of Kingston and its beautiful views. The tour was amazing overall, and the scenery made the long day completely worthwhile. At the end of the evening, Phil safely dropped us off at the same location where he had picked us up. We really appreciated his flexibility, quick thinking, and effort throughout the trip.

Wonderful day trip to Mount Rainier National Park. We were so lucky to have a beautifully sunny day, so the summit and all other sites were clearly visible. Our tour guide/driver Josh was great in providing interesting information, stopping for us to take photos, and was conscientious about all members of our group’s needs. The vehicle for this tour was cramped and not very comfortable for transport of 12 people.

During the tour on September 7, I was given a sandwich with a September 4 date, meaning the date was already three days past. The food was provided without the date or condition being properly checked. I noticed the issue myself before eating it and immediately informed the guide. Providing food without even checking its date is a serious food-safety concern. If I had not checked it myself, I could have eaten food that should not have been provided. This was not simply an inconvenience—it was a matter of basic food safety. The incident made me extremely uncomfortable and significantly affected my tour experience.
Thank you for continuing to communicate with us. The sandwich you received was purchased from Safeway, and our guide did not notice its expiration date when distributing it on September 7. We sincerely apologize for this. We fully agree that checking the date and condition of food before providing it to guests is a basic responsibility, and we deeply regret that this was not done in this instance. After you reported the issue to the guide, the guide immediately offered you a fresh replacement sandwich that was still within its expiration date, but you declined this offer. The guide then said that a new sandwich would be purchased for you after the tour came down from the mountain. When the group passed a food supermarket on the way down, the guide stopped and invited you to go inside to choose a sandwich you liked, or offered to buy one on your behalf. You declined again. We appreciate that you noticed the issue before eating the food, and we are glad that you did not consume it. We understand that this incident caused you discomfort and affected your experience. For this reason, we have offered a total of USD 30 in compensation as a goodwill gesture for the inconvenience and the food safety issue. Although we take this matter very seriously and have apologized and offered compensation, we regret that we are unable to meet your request for a full refund of the tour fee. The tour, including transportation, guide services, and itinerary arrangements, was completed as planned. The issue was limited to one food item that was not consumed, and the guide made multiple reasonable attempts to resolve it at the time, but these were unsuccessful. Therefore, a full refund would be disproportionate to the actual mistake that occurred, and we regret that we cannot accommodate this request. Please rest assured that we have taken internal measures to prevent similar incidents from happening again. Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention.
