My family and I took this walking food tour as part of the kickoff to our vacation in Greece, and it ended up being one of our favorite experiences in Athens. The food was delicious, and we loved getting introduced to authentic Greek specialties while discovering some fantastic local spots that we likely would never have found on our own. Beyond the food, we also enjoyed learning about Athens, its culture, and the history behind many of the places we visited. What really made the experience special, though, was our guide, Fotis. From the moment the tour started, his positive energy, enthusiasm, and passion for Athens were evident. He was incredibly knowledgeable and shared interesting stories and insights throughout the tour, but what stood out most was how engaging and personable he was. He made everyone feel welcome, kept the group involved, and created a fun, relaxed atmosphere that made the experience even more enjoyable. My family and I had a wonderful time, and much of that was because of Fotis. He didn’t just guide us through a food tour—he helped create a memorable experience that was the perfect start to our Greek vacation. We left feeling more connected to the city, its culture, and its food. We highly recommend this tour, and if you have Fotis as your guide, you’re in excellent hands!
One of the best food tours we have been on!Many, many different local dishes are included, as well as several small sample tastings. The variety and flavors are excellent. You definitely will not go hungry. Our guide, Michael, was very hospitable and made sure everyone was taken care of, sharing information and stories about each of the food items. It is mostly a standing tour, with sit-down dining in the middle and at the end. The start location is easy to get to and find, just a 5 minute walk north from Monastiraki Square and the metro station.
Alera was a wonderful hostess and guide to our traditional Greek food tour. She was informative, entertaining, kind and it was clear she wanted everyone to enjoy the experience and get what they wanted out of the tour. She knows Athens and Greek customs and traditions and we visited many places, trying food and drink, and getting a chance to buy things we wanted like olive oil, nut snacks, bee food and healing products, and more. Highly recommend!!
This was a great tour full of authentic hidden gems. Mike was very friendly and well connected with the locals, which helped to add to the overall experience. Food was great. This is a must do!

Fotis was absolutely AMAZING!!!! I would do this food tour again - just to have the incredible food and Fotis as the tour guide. There was history interwoven with the culinary delights at every stop. My daughter and I LOVED this tour and found it very tasty. There was a lovely variety of food types. HIGHLY recommend!!!!

One of the more successful, well rounded Viator food tours we have done - though the group was not “small” (13) they were congenial, and our guide handled them well. We saw a nice balance of raw ingredients and finished dishes, and the amount of food was not overwhelming and did not lean too heavily on alcohol. It would have been better to have chosen the AM session, as the covered market was virtually finished for the day when we visited. I would have enjoyed seeing it going full blast! Had we been staying longer, we would certainly have revisited some shops!

This food tour is a MUST if you are visiting Athens!!! Arela was an AMAZING and FUN guide, and we really got a true taste of Athens because of her passion! She took us to amazing spots, from local fish markets, to olive, cheese, and olive oil tastings, to small local businesses where we could find Greek snacks and products, and then we had a huge traditional Greek dinner together! Her insight into the local culture and traditions were incredible, and we all felt like we had a better understanding of Athens by the end. Alera was an amazing guide. There were 8 of us on this small group tour. Alera introduced us to so many wonderful Greek food and drink experiences! She explained the customs and culture surrounding each item, and gave us all samples to try. We finished with a sit-down meal of delicious shareables.
