Our trip was excellent from start to finish! The company kept us well informed about the tour from the very beginning through WhatsApp, which made everything feel organized and easy. Our tour guide, Ann, met us at the hotel in the morning and greeted us warmly. We hit it off right away. She was incredibly friendly, personable, and an engaging conversationalist. Although the drive to Alishan took about 4.5 hours, the time passed quickly because our conversations kept us entertained throughout the journey. Alishan was absolutely beautiful and felt almost magical. Dense fog covered much of the mountain during our visit, giving the entire area a dreamy and peaceful atmosphere. Before our hike, we enjoyed a traditional indigenous meal for lunch, which was a wonderful part of the experience. We then rode the historic mountain train and hiked for about 40–60 minutes. Along the way, we saw the famous Sacred Tree, many trees that were more than 1,000 years old, Sister Lake, and other beautiful sights. The hike was moderate in difficulty and very enjoyable. After the hike, we participated in a tea ceremony, which was another memorable experience. We spent the night at a lodge near Alishan and woke up early the next morning to watch the sunrise over the mountains. It was definitely worth getting up early for! We also visited several charming villages, a train station, a coffee shop, and other interesting stops along the way. Overall, this was a fantastic trip and one of the highlights of our visit. Ann made the experience even more enjoyable with her warmth, friendliness, and great conversation. We would highly recommend this tour!

Our family of 15 enjoyed the 2 day tour to Alishan with our guide Florence. We were able to customize the tour to our liking. Thank you, Florence, for accommodating our preferences. The shuttle bus picked us up right outside of the Airbnb. We had a couple of quick rest stops along the way to Chiayi where Florence recommended a lunch spot for special chicken/turkey rice dish. We watched a performance at the Yuyupas Tsou Cultural Park and then had a high mountain tea tasting experience in Alishan Forest. We independently booked rooms at the Yin Shan hotel in the Alishan Forest so that we were close to the train or shuttle bus to get to sunrise at Zhushan station. Florence recommended the 4:20 am shuttle bus which enabled us to be the first ones at the Xiaoliyuanshan lookout for sunrise. After sunrise, we explored the Sister Ponds and Sacred Trees and had breakfast provided by the hotel at a local restaurant. We were able to procure tickets on the Alishan historic train from Alishan to Chiayi, where the tour bus picked us up and brought us back to Taipei.

We had such an amazing time with Just Taiwan Tours and cannot recommend them enough. We requested Tony based on recommendations we read in other reviews and we were so happy we did; he was an incredible driver and tour guide, taking us to some really special and unique places most tourists don’t go to, and was full of amazing knowledge and great tips for the best photo spots and hidden gems for food and other activities. The tour company is very flexible and accommodating throughout with special requests if you want to deviate from the planned itinerary, and all in all we had the most amazing two-day experience in Alishan and the surrounding area.

We loved this tour and our fabulous guide, Tony! Tony picked us up at pirates hotel in a Mercedes van. Water was provided both days which was an added bonus for us. He knew all the hidden spots to take us and brought along his own Nikon camera to take pictures! He provided a card with all of his photos loaded. We felt like celebrities with all of the photo ops! His service was just amazing, speaking excellent English and telling us all about the history pf this island and all of the special places he took us. We kept saying how lucky we were, because we were able to see a sunset, sunrise, monkeys, moths at the temple, got great parking spots, and had fabulous food along the way. I highly recommend this tour and the accommodations provided!Thank you Tony for the great time and amazing photos!

Excellent guide to Alishan forest train and old trees. Evan was creative in handling my wife’s mobility issues.

It is a wonderful commune with nature — fresh air, awesome views with a little history. Our guide/ driver/photographer Wilson is the best! The hotpot dinner was also good!

It was fantastic! Joshua Liu was my driver and tour guide for the trip - he was very knowledgeable and a great tour guide! Alishan is beautiful and the stay in the mountains was beautiful. Highly recommend this tour!

I did a two‑day, one‑night private tour to Alishan with Joseph, and I couldn’t have asked for a better guide. He handled both the driving and guiding, and I always felt completely safe with him behind the wheel. His English is very good, and he knows all the best viewpoints and hidden spots for photos. Joseph is extremely courteous, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about what he does. He also introduced me to some great local food places that I wouldn’t have found on my own. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and I highly recommend “Just Taiwan” travel tours — especially if you can request Joseph.

Well worth the trip from Taipei. Joesph was our guide- he was very professional, kind, polite and very knowledgeable. Gorgeous view, unlike I’ve seen before. The air is so clean, fresh and smelling of the Cypress trees.
