The experience ended well but there were glitches along the way. The driver's English was limited. There was confusion about the tour length. The boat cruise had issues - was shorter than booked, entry to the boat was via a very rickety ramp that wobbled and creaked, step off point into boat was narrow and presented a trip risk. Short cruise was negotiated on phone with provider who organised for the boat boy to take us back out on the water so cruise ended well. Guests are encouraged to double check exact expectations with provider as well as viator well in advance. Always call the provider if something is not as expected as providers seem to want to deliver well.

We would like to clarify a few points: this experience is not a guided tour, but rather a traditional dhow experience with return transfers. Our drivers have a working knowledge of English, but please note that this is not an English-speaking country, so their fluency may be limited. Regarding the boat, we want to assure you that it meets all safety requirements, and guest safety is always our top priority. The dhow is a traditional wooden boat, designed to give guests an authentic cultural experience, which is why it may feel different from modern boats. As for the trip timing, there was indeed a misunderstanding, which we immediately rectified by arranging a second cruise to ensure you had the full experience. Took the gentle 4pm cruise for about 40 minutes (5pm would have been better to see the skyscrapers light up rather brilliantly). Thankfully my driver was patient, and we hung around the quayside for the light show. I also grabbed a superb seafood basket from the Sea Zone Snacks food caravan for just QR20! The average review score is for the price. My tour cost me AU$112 before I left Australia. A ticket for the dhow cruise would have cost me just AU$14 if I had turned up at the boat on my own (and only AU$3 for a taxi to the harbour from my hotel if I had travelled there on my own). Find a better deal if you can.

Terrible experience - unprofessional and the guide and boat captain spent the whole trip yelling at one another. Completely spoiled it for us. I also suspect the boat would fail health and safety checks.

Guide Singh was really nice, very enthousiastic about his job. He's been in Qatar for 20+ years so he has seen all the changes in Qatar and shares his stories during the ride and Corniche walk. The Dhow trip was long enough to take some great photos of the West Bay skyline. Very nice tour with a very likeable guide. Recommended.
