The highlights of this tour were excellent. Visiting the El Jem Amphitheatre, the Berber house, riding camels in the Sahara, watching the sunrise over the desert and visiting the Star Wars film sets were all memorable experiences. The jeep ride across the dunes was also great fun, and our guide was friendly, knowledgeable and happy to take photos without expecting tips. Unfortunately, the overnight stay let the trip down. The hotel was very basic, the buffet offered limited choice, and drinks had to be paid for throughout the trip despite many guests coming from all-inclusive hotels. This wasn’t a problem in itself, but it would have been nice to have been informed beforehand. One particularly frustrating aspect of the evening was that the same song seemed to be played repeatedly for hours. We were trying to relax and enjoy a game of cards after a long day of travelling and sightseeing, but the constant repetition became irritating. The second day started earlier than advertised with a 4am wake-up call, although the Sahara sunrise made it worthwhile. The Star Wars set was impressive, but having vendors set up within the attraction took away from the atmosphere slightly. The journey back felt longer than necessary. After the sunrise, jeep ride and Star Wars set, some of the later stops didn’t add much value and it would have been better to head back sooner with only essential comfort breaks. Overall, there are some fantastic experiences included in this tour and I’m glad we did it, but a few improvements to the accommodation, food and organisation would make it much better.
This two-day trip was excellent and the highlight of our vacation. The tour guide Jelli, who conducted the tour in 3 languages, was fantastic and there was no question about Tunisia that he could not answer. The bus driver was also great and even stopped at a bank so that one could exchange money. It is a long 2 days when you have to get up at 5 and 3 in the morning, so be prepared. You spend a lot of time on the bus, but it stops every 1.5 hours so that one can buy something to drink and use the restroom, etc. The camel ride and the jeep safari were the highlights of the trip for us. The sunrise over the salt flats was also worth seeing. The meals were sufficient. If you visit Tunisia, I would recommend this trip, as you see so much and it was an excellent value for money!
An unforgettable experience - two days travelling over 1200 km across this beautiful country in the company of an exemplary tour guide and excellent driver. From start to finish, it was brilliantly curated to include so many amazing sights and scenes, we laughed and were entertained as we learnt about the history, culture, economy, and life in the places we visited. We were stunned by the spectacular El Jem Colosseum; we ate a delicious Berber breakfast of bread, honey & olive oil in Matmata; we were enchanted by the Star Wars caves; we rode camels and watched the sunset at the gateway to the Sahara in Douz; we saw the sun rise by stunning salt lake Chott el Djerid; we were bounced around (such fun!) on a jeep safari into the dunes by Onk Jemak; witnessed a mirage; saw a real oasis en route, and we ended in Kairouan by the ancient mosque to hear the call to prayer. All the time, accompanied by an utterly exceptional tour guide, Dr Waseem, who taught us so much about his life and experience of this country… driver, Mr Anis deserves a mention as he too was superb. I’d totally recommend this excursion to anyone coming to Sousse.
Great experience! Our guide was so kind especially to our children he even went to buy them hickeys. He looked on his phone and timed all day to take us exactly to sunset during our camel ride. The whole excursion was well organized. We never waited anywhere. The jeep in the desert was spectacular! The oasis is wonderful. I was referring this excursion at any time. Thanks to our guide and the driver who took us from our hotel in Sousse.
This was a well organised and fascinating tour which we couldn’t recommend highly enough. Everything from the amazing ruins of the amphitheater at El Jen to the changing landscapes of the Sahara from the rocky desert of Matmatra to the sandy and salt plain deserts were incredible. It is without doubt one of the most enjoyable holiday tours we have ever been on.
We had a brilliant trip with Mo & Salah in February 2026. Highly recommended trip if you want to exlpore the country. El Jem was great start and the 4x4 drive and camel ride into the desert were the highlight. Two long days but well worth it.
Guide was great this trip made our holiday although Tunisia did not do it for us it's just in ruins and very dirty would not recommend this country we went home early it was that bad
A lot of travelling , of course, but there were conveniently spaced stops for toilets, coffee, etc. en route. There was adequate time built in to enjoy each location. If not availing oneself of the camel riding opportunity, there was not much else to do at the location - although some did say they enjoyed the opportunity for a walk. The Kairouan Mosque photo opportunity turned out to be from the roof of carpet warehouse but gave a good view. The demonstration of wares involved no hard-sell, and the asking prices struck us as being remarkably inexpensive - such that we began to wish we had the need for such an item. Downstairs, there was a range of craft items and other souvenirs for sale - again at unusually attractive prices. The coach was comfortable and the driver very good. Our guide was knowledgeable and informative, and fluent in at least 3 European languages: English, German and French. (His commentary was given in English and in German, but with a personal translation for a couple of French speakers in the party.) His onboard commentary wasn't always easy to follow because of some distortion by the PA system possible aggravated by speaking too close to the microphone. We found the trip a very enjoyable experience.
The tour is extremely long and exhausting. Lots of hours on the bus, inevitable though to go from A to B, however all the stops were rushed whether they were for lunch or at the sites. Accomodation in Dous was horrible, very old hotel, old blanket which looked even filthy. The guide (Mr. Dali, if not mistaken) although he wasn't rude, gave us very little info, nothing that we couldn't have found out by ourselves on wikipedia or the net. During the looooong driving hours he was silent, sleeping, and he didn't share any info about the country ( that's the reason why I picked an organised tour otherwise I would have rented a car and drive to places by myself). All the lunch breaks were very fast, kind of rushed and then back on the bus to drive for hours again. No possibility to charge your phone on the bus, so bring a power bank. The driver, Mr. Maher was excellent, he drove carefully and patiently throughout the 2 days. Camel ride was a massive rip off, no sunset no sunrise due to the bad weather.
Camel experience was wonderful, 4x4 so much fun , loads of stops which was great , didn’t expect the 4.30am wake up call good job we didn’t go out in the hotel in the overnight as it was empty , fantastic experience and would recommend going .
