A Private Boat tour is truly an experience to have! It can be worthwhile ,and depending of your family or group size, it can be cost effective. I looked web sites for many different canal tours, even ones that were no cost with my I Amsterdam card. I chose this tour from Rederij Paping because it sounded perfect and just what I wanted. And it was! Making reservations directly with the company was easy and they sent a reminder the day before, indicating date, time, and pick-up location. We traveled on an overnight flight and needed to fill the free time until we could check-in for our rental. The skipper, Lucas, picked us up outside of Centraal Station, which was very convenient. We toured from the Ij to the inner canals, and finally to the Amstel river. The electric boat was quiet, comfortable, and glided smoothly over the water. Conversing with Skipper Lucas was fun as well as informational. Since there wasn't an entire crowd of people on board, the talk between us had a natural flow, not listening to a pre-package text. It was like going for a ride with your "bestie". There was an offering of drinks on board but we were so dehydrated from the flight, we just drank a lot water and a Coke. The 2-hours went by quickly. We were totally relaxed and happy when it ended. I'm glad I booked this private tour because experiences like that one are truly priceless. We'll always remember it.

I booked a boat for a 2-hour tour with 5 friends to celebrate my birthday. The boat was comfortable and the skipper was friendly and helpful. I only realized after the first hour that there were more drinks in the cooler, so maybe that info could have been explained at the beginning. We were allowed to bring our own food on board, which is good. The snacks provided were, I think, mixed nuts. Overall an enjoyable experience, and I would recommend to others, but important to bring your own food and beverages to make sure you have the range and variety you want.

Our canal tour with Marc was beyond expectation. His extensive knowledge of Amsterdam and the canals, not to mention the comfortable setting was a true delight. It will definitely be a special memory for our family!
