My friend and I went for a 2-hour private tour of Dharavi, with our guide Adil, who was born and raised there himself. It has been a just great way to explore and get to know about Dharavi and its uniqueness. The tour was at one genuine and informative, and entirely ethic and respectful of residents and workers. Adil guided us through the "industrial" part of Dharavi, where he is known by and familiar with many locals and businesses, and the residential area likewise. We got to learn about and access the premises of several workshops treating among others plastic, high-end fabrics, leather and clay. Not only Adil showed us how Dharavi is a city and a system in itself, but also how essential it is to Mumbai, including by providing materials and recycling most of its plastic. Aside from its entrepreneurial side, we were also able to see how Dharavi blend of cultures and peoples from different states and religions, and we were made aware about the problematic project to relocate a significant portion of its residents. I would absolutely recommend this tour as well as the outstanding guide Adil!

We had a 2-hour private tour of Dharavi with Adil. It was an eye opening experience, with an insider’s view of the entrepreneurial spirit, hard work and sense of community of the people living and working in Dharavi. This isn’t a typical tour at all, and we loved it because of that. Our guide Adil lives in Dharavi, and through the tour made us realise how essential Dharavi is to the functioning of Mumbai. It is a world in itself. And everything from recycling centers to textiles, leather goods, restaurants and pottery thrive within the walls of Dharavi. Adil is very mindful of not making the tour voyeuristic, and I would definitely recommend them to see the other side of Dharavi which is often ignored.

Really a different experience when we walk inside Dharavi. We had an excellent guide Aquif, fluent in English and Hindi. He is a young student living in Dharavi.

The guide Aquif was fantastic, he let us discover every corner of the slum, explaining to us in detail the life and work inside. Highly recommended for anyone who happens to be in the area for work/vacation.

An eye‑opening and deeply human experience. The heat, humidity and conditions were intense, but what stays with you is the community’s resilience and energy. Our young guide Adel was exceptional. Warm, insightful, and proud of his community, bringing every street and story to life. An unforgettable, respectful glimpse into real Mumbai.
