We knew we wanted to get from Lisbon to Porto by car with a private driver as opposed to taking a train. We were not disappointed. Our driver/guide from Meridian 4 People showed up on time and was very helpful with our luggage. We had planned several stops along the way. Our first stop was Obidos where we walked along and saw the quaint little shops. My husband climbed to a vantage point to take some pictures near the church and said it was even too high for him. The bathroom in that area left a lot to be desired. Our next stop was Nazare. It is supposed to have spectacular waves but unfortunately not when we were there. Mostly in the winter months we were told. Still it was a beautiful beach town with impressive cliffs and views. We ate at a lovely restaurant whose name had the word Mer in it. Think it was attached to a hotel. Sorry I can't remember the whole name. If you find it, eat there. Very good food. Our last stop on the journey was Aveiro, the supposed Venice of Portugal. Yes they had gondolas but no it did not remind me of Venice at all. Not very impressive. Our final destination was Porto. It took all day but that was the plan. It was nice to see parts of the country we would not otherwise have experienced had we taken a train.

Armando was a fantastic tour guide and an excellent and careful driver. He was patient while we enjoyed the beautiful cities between Lisbon and Porto. We would definitely recommend this over the rail system.

Our driver took us from Lisbon to Porto. It was a rainy day and he drove brilliantly. We stopped in Nazare along the way and grabbed a delicious lunch. We got to our destination safely and would recommend.

The best decision we made was to hire a private car from DayTrip to go from Porto to Lisbon ,Portugal with stops along the way. Our driver was Fernando and he was on time and knowledgeable . We were not rushed at each of the cities we stopped to see.He directed us to a good restaurant in one of the cities and dropped us off at our hotel in Lisbon. Going by private car is a wonderful way to see a country.If doing so in Portugal Fernando is a great choice.

Vasco was amazing! So friendly and fun to talk with. The van was immaculate and very comfortable. Vasco made sure we always had water and was very accommodating to our group, including our cranky toddler! He picked a fabulous lunch spot for us and made sure we had memorable experiences at each of the stops. I highly recommend this transfer/tour, especially if you are considering flying. Take this van instead!
