We booked this through Viator thinking the guide would be as pictured however we were met by Rajs a very nice young Indian gentleman who was sicker than sick with what sounded like Bronchitis we are traveling for ; months and this is not acceptable. My husband is over 70 and I cannot have him catch bronchitis! Our guide had to cut our first day short so we dropped him off at the train and our driver took us to our hotel. The hotel was maybe 3 stars equivalent AC was good. Pouring rain the next day a new guide arrived and we toured temples in the pouring rain but he did get us umbrellas. He too then left us with the driver who then dropped us at the next hotel 3 stars again maybe!! Day 3 a new guide (3 guide of the trip all Indian speak very ok English at best) Rajs did give us a 4 day of tour back in Chennai at no cost to us. This is the redeeming quality of India, its people. The tour went poorly the inconveniences were huge but Rajs saved it with that last free day. We saw mount St Thomas and the basilica and ended on a good note. Over all a 3
Hi It sounds like you had quite a challenging experience during your tour, and sorry to hear that you encountered these difficulties. It’s understandable that having a guide who was unwell and having to adjust to multiple guides would cause frustration, especially when traveling with health concerns for your husband. I’m glad to hear that despite the issues on the first part of your tour, went above and beyond to provide a redeeming experience on the final day with a complimentary additional tour. It’s true that in challenging moments, the kindness of people can make a significant difference. Took a step back into history which was made more enjoyable with the interesting and entertaining comments from informative guide for three days and good accommodation provided.I would highly recommend Wonder tours in Chennai.
