The San Sebastián secret pinxos tour was great. We visited pintxos bars and wine bars outside of the main tourist area. Take this tour if you want an authentic local experience.

Javier was a nice guide and shared the local history on the tour. Some tasty bites but unfortunately the last restaurant missed our third plate so we had to share two plates when we paid for 3. When I brought this to the attention of the restaurant staff they said "if it's part of the tour we won't do anything". Disappointing to leave hungry.

We go on food tours in most cities we visit, and this was the least satisfying one we have ever been on. I would not recommend it. We paid a good amount for four of us to be on it, but we were reminded again and again that these were working restaurants doing us a favor. Maybe San Sebastian is too busy for food tours, I don't know. The following day on our free walking tour, we learned the meaning of the word pintxos (and I think we had maybe one or two on this tour), the difference between pintxos and tapas, and about San Sebastian. Every food tour we've been on we have learned something about the culture of the food we're tasting. The guide knew a lot about wine, and told us quite a bit about it when we were at the otherwise empty wine bar. I don't remember the food at all, but I could tell you our whole menu from a food tour in Lisbon and Paris. The best way to describe the tour is lackluster.

Well worth doing. Javier our guide was excellent. Very knowledgeable and friendly. We did this on a Monday when a lot of bars are closed but he managed to get us round some excellent places for Pinxto.

Great cultural and gastronomic experience. Walked in city central and grid, learned a lot about food and San Sebastián. Had a little trouble finding the group, the guide was on Spanish time. But no problems in the end. Just the right amount of food, cider, and wine. UK, Canada and the US in our group of 10. Guide Javier was superb

Beautiful night in San Sebastián. I understand why you are called ‘Secret Food Tours’ Our Guide Javier, introduced us to local restaurants, I never would have found on my own. I loved learning about the history of San Sebastián as we walked through town. The best was the history of the pinxtos, and insider tips, so I can order like an local! Highlights: Oysters - The Best. Baby Squid - amazing Chicoli - tasting P.S. - Our Guide Javier speaks English fluently, a plus! 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I highly suggest you take this tour.

Javi was super friendly and had a lot of patience with my slow walking 80 yr old mom. He was knowledgeable and fun and a very good guide. The food was great. These were off the beaten path spots but we were not surrounded by tourists. It was nice to be in A group of people from all countries. A nice experience!

Surely you can have a similar pintxo crawling experience by yourself, by why not let the locals take you to a few solid places outside the touristy center and at the same paint you an idea of what life in town is like around the year? much better! The food was all good (San Sebastian after all) with a couple of highlights and good amount, especially at the end where we also had options, not everything a fixed menu, that was a nice surprise. The other pleasant surprise was the amount of alcohol which even in the base package I didn't expect! Overall it felt like good value for money.
