Our tour to Alexandria was very special. First, our driver, Mr. Medhat is a retired military officer. His driving skill is awesome and we were able to benefit from his special status by zipping down the highway, even taking some roads not available to just anybody. Mr. Doma was excellent. He lives in Alexandria and is an authority on the city. We visited the catacombs, the amphitheater, and Fort Qaitbey. On his advice we skipped Pompey's Pillar, saving the entrance fee. He also took us to a great restaurant overlooking the harbor, where we got a very reasonably priced mixed grill. Counting travel time from the hotel and back the tour took almost 12 hours. We got our money's worth.
