My guide was very friendly but his English was not as good as others I have had during my stay in India. We started at the Gardens, ( entry free) scene of the 1919 Massacre where, frankly, had I not been aware of the history, I would have been at a loss to understand the significance. I spent two hours alone in the Partition Museum ( entry £2.50) whilst my guide showed another tour taker ( a delightful Canadian, but not of my group), the Golden Temple. To be honest, I enjoyed this more than I would have done with the guide, the Museum being well laid out, with information in English and subtitles to the videos. The Border Ceremony was fascinating: a cross between a football Derby ( think baseball caps and popcorn for sale), with Indian soldiers engaged in rifle twirling like cheerleaders and a pantomime with soldiers encouraging each side of the stadium to shout ' Hindustan' louder than the other. Guide could not accompany into the ' Foreigners' section, but no explanation was needed. Again entry was free and buses and tuk tuks leave the central square daily for the stadium. A good day but probably one I could have arranged independently.

Guide was terrible, she didn’t give her name. She was arrogant and rude and the limited information she shared was fictional as we suspected at the time and confirmed later. She appeared surprised that we wanted to visit the museum, despite it being part of the itinerary and when we visited, it was closed! She was determined to take us to a marble shop and either ignored or spoke over us when we politely declined. Instead, we went to a nearby cafe to discuss whether we wanted to continue the tour due to her attitude and lack of information shared. After she paced in front of our table, we decided to continue to the border ceremony with her, despite her telling us we needed to leave the ceremony prior to the end as she wanted to get back. We were taken to a ‘top restaurant with a famous chef in house’ which we didn’t want to go as we suspected it was the usual tourist trap whereby the guide receives commission. It was ok, full of tourists, over priced and certainly not as described. We had just wanted a local cafe but our requests were again repeatedly ignored. Very disappointed as my daughter was really looking forward to this experience and had researched the history but wanted to visit the museum and learn more from the guide. Complete rip off and avoid

Knowledgeable guide, good English, very helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. Well worth it! Fascinating place to visit, especially the Golden Temple and the border ceremony

Anilji was an excellent guide through both the known and unknown parts of Amritsar. We had a wonderful experience being picked/dropped, taken behind the scenes at the Golden Temple and arriving at the border at the right time. Highly recommend this tour.

It was a great trip and we had abreast experience here. Location is best. It remind you the situation has happened to jalianwala baug.
