Our guide was Panos, who we had had on a previous tour. We liked him so much that we requested him for a second tour! It's a 3 1/2 hour drive from Athens to Olympia, so it was really nice that the car we rode in had wi-Fi. And Panos is great - he pointed out sights along the drive, adding historical background and relevant facts to enhance our understanding. When we arrived at Olympia, he drove us to the bottom of the hill to purchase tickets, then drove is back to the top of the hill where the entrance was for the Archaeological Museum. Once we were done, he drove us back down the hill to the entrance area for the actual archaeological site and the Museum of the History of the Olympic Games. Once done seeing that area he came and picked us up where he had dropped us off. The driving us up and down the hill was really appreciated as I use a walker, it's a steep climb, and it was a very warm day. Also, normally I don't think vehicles are allowed to go beyond the upper area. It looked like everyone else was walking between the upper and lower areas.

Olympia was amazing. It’s a far drive from Athens, but we felt it was worth it. There are three museums to see in the town and we misunderstood and thought we were doing one after lunch but we left for Athens after lunch. So we missed the Olympic museum that isn’t near the other ones. Our lunch was delicious. Beautiful day all the way around.
