After disembarking in Piraeus after a one week cruise, we wanted to see Athens without the hassle of riding in a bus waiting for tour participants to arrive, sit down, get out, and repeat at each stop all while barely seeing anything. With this in mind, I decided to book a private tour with Athens Tours Greece which turned out to be an excellent idea. Sure it costs more than a traditional tour, but there were no regrets of , "I wish I could have seen this or that." We met up with our awesome driver Spyros at the port. After loading up our luggage, he drove along the coast line and told us about all of the sites and stopping at places for photos. Once arriving in Athens, he took us to the major sites and for those we wanted to spend more time seeing, he provided us with his number so we could text him when we were ready to move to the next location. Unlike large group tours, we were able to see things at our own pace spending more time at those attractions which we were more interested in and not having to wait on stragglers. It was a wonderful, informative and relaxing way to see Athens.

This was our first time traveling abroad and I cannot say enough about how amazing this tour was! Our driver,Alex, was so knowledgeable about all things on the tour. He truly made the experience above and beyond. Every place we went we were there before the mass tour buses came so we could experience the places with minimal crowds. He tailored or day to our schedule, meaning we saw everything that was planned but he did not rush our time in any place. I highly recommended using this company for your trip, and we will 100% use them again!

Michael was an excellent tour guide. We were on a cruise ship and booked the tour through Viator. We took the 7 hour tour and saw all the main attractions, even some non-tourist spots that were great. There were 3 couples in our party, all family members and we absolutely loved the Greek food at a local restaurant, 5F, where we stopped for lunch. Michael was informative and fun. We all highly recommend him and the company. His promptness on our pickup time and return time were much appreciated.

We had such an awesome experience with Athens Tours Greece! Our tour guide was fantastic — knowledgeable, friendly, and made the day so much fun. We got to see all the must-see sights in just one day, which was perfect for our trip. Highly recommend this tour to anyone wanting to explore the highlights of Athens in a short amount of time!

This tour worked perfectly in conjunction with the start of our cruise, which was leaving out of the Piraeus port. Toti (sp) was our driver for the tour, and she did a great job of arranging all portions of the tour - where we went, when we went, and how long we would stay at each destination. She was an interesting person to speak with, and we learned quite about the Athens area and daily life in Greece. We chose the higher-priced option for the tour, and I'm glad we did as admission fees and lunch were therefore included. We particularly appreciated arriving at the Acropolis early so we could beat the crowds. In addition to the morning light enhancing the views, we didn't have to fight our way thru the crowds that we experienced on the way down from the Acropolis. The restaurant chosen for lunch was an outstanding choice, with the owner bringing us a large variety of sharing plates to sample. This approach, versus ordering one entree apiece, allowed us to try a number of excellent dishes. At the end of the day we were dropped at our cruise ship with plenty of time to spare. Overall it was a great day. We saw many of the sights in Athens, our arrival times at the various locations allowed us to avoid crowds for the most part, and we had a delicious lunch of Greek specialty dishes. Athens is a magical city full of history. The people are friendly and caring. Our guide Castos was a retired profession who patiently shared the wonderful story of the historic buildings as well as the culture of the people of Greece.

This was a fantastic tour particularly for those who have not been to Athens before and it is a great way to get to see as many points of interest as you can in one day. Dimitra was our guide and she was very skilled in her knowledge as well as very friendly. Toti was our driver and very knowledgeable and friendly herself as well as a very skilled driver going through the streets of Athens. We were happy to have them lead us through the city. We were able to see many more landmarks than we could have expected and the included lunch was amazing. The intimacy of having a private tour was also great as we didn’t feel rushed or crowded. Highly recommend!

We did a whole day private tour with Mikael. He was friendly and very knowledgeable, not only about ancient Athens, but about contemporary Athens as well. We covered a lot of ground in 7.5 hours! It was great having tickets already purchased so we didn't have to wait in any long lines. He also brought us to a great restaurant for lunch... Different from all of the tavernas we had been going to. It wasn't cheap, but it was well worth what we paid.

We made the tour at the stop of a cruise. The car was waiting for us at the porto.caro excellent, new, air conditioned and the attentive driver. We met with our guide Helena who was wonderful. The visit to the Acropolis and the Museums worth Very worth it to have been guided by her. We had lunch in a simple tavern, but the food was delicious. We still visited some other points before we said goodbye and the car will take us back to the harbor with timely tranquility. We highly recommend!

First off, my husband booked the incorrect date by a week so this company could have chosen to not accommodate us, but not only did they work with us to be able to still go, they busted their butts to make sure we enjoyed the experience while also still valuing their employees who came in to do our unexpected tour. That says a lot about a company! We had two drivers to accommodate our last minute tour on their schedule, and both drivers were great but for different reasons. Both were natives and extremely knowledgeable of the landmarks and areas we visited. The second driver was hilarious and made the drive from place to place a fun experience l, while our morning driver was more extroverted so he would share more freely without us asking questions we didn’t really know to ask. The stops on the tours were a perfect introduction to Athens, but despite driving from place to place, we were exhausted so giving ourselves a day to work off the jet lag prior to doing the tour was a good decision on our part. You get to walk a lot so we would have been hurting had we done it the day after our US 10hr flight into Athens. The 2 things we didn’t realize is they do not go into the landmarks with you so when we got there, we were left to figure out if we were going to rent the automated headphone tour, read every sign along the way, or listen to other people’s tour guides (strong frowned upon and they have NO SHANE telling you to move along if you’re not part of their group). The only one we really wished we would have had a tour guide was in the Acropolis Museum. Getting into each location was a breeze as long as you didn’t follow everyone else in line like humans usually do. Since we had tickets already, we went around majority of the lines of people who were waiting to purchase/acquire their tickets and got to the front. The Acropolis Museum was far too big to cover in the 90 min they give because we are big museum people, so we went back after our tour concluded and used previous tickets for re-entry. I am not sure if all the places allowed for re-entry but that was a perk to this company’s tickets. Lunch was phenomenal- our driver took us to his home town and fav restaurant called The 3 (or was it 5) F’s or something close to that. We sat outside and they brought us about 7-8 main dishes to all try. It was so cool to try food popular in Greek culture, but since they picked all the options we were able to try foods we never would have even considered that were YUMMY. If you are a vegetarian, you need to let the company know ahead of time to tell the restaurant. Our group all agreed, this was definitely worth the price and yes, they appreciate being tipped despite what you read online!
