Amber Fort with a Jaipur Tour Guide – A Fairytale Journey Through the Land of Kings
Walking into Amber Fort felt like stepping into the pages of a magical fairy tale. The golden walls, grand gateways, hidden courtyards, and magnificent palaces seemed to whisper stories of kings, queens, and royal romance. Our Jaipur tour guide brought the fort to life with fascinating tales of the Rajput rulers, brave warriors, and the beautiful queens who once lived within these walls.
As we wandered through the dazzling Mirror Palace, every reflection sparkled like stars in a magical kingdom. The views of the hills, ancient ramparts, and Maota Lake below were simply breathtaking. Every corner revealed a new surprise and a new story.

Trip to Amer fort Jaipur
Our tour guide Punit is an excellent guide, full of fun and extremely helpful- he arranged wheel chairs for my parents who are 80 years old and without this facility we would not have been able to tour the fort. His jokes were very funny and even my daughter who is always grumpy as a teenager was enjoying and having fun🤣 I highly recommend everyone to visit Amer fort when you visit Jaipur and ask for Punit as your guide - he will make the visit memorable and something to brag about

A Incredible Place
An incredible fort that plunges us into the distant past.
The architecture is beautiful with lots of colors and details. The place is huge, it takes about 2 to 3 hours to visit. The story is fascinating with the different rooms that served the Emperor and his family. On the way down, we can see a puppet show. The only downside is the elephant ride which is torture for animals. There is the possibility to do the climb on foot or quad bike.

A Majestic Legacy Reduced to Neglect and Exploitation
Amber Fort should be one of India’s greatest treasures. Instead, it feels like a neglected relic being commercially exploited, and that is deeply heartbreaking.
Historically, this was a palace built for a king with 12 wives, each associated with a zodiac sign, with separate apartments for each queen. The concept itself reflects architectural brilliance, cultural symbolism, and extraordinary planning. Walking through the fort, you can still sense the grandeur and intelligence behind its design. And that is exactly what makes its current condition so painful.
The physical state of the palace is appalling. Walls are crumbling, plaster has fallen away, and restoration appears minimal or careless. What should inspire awe instead evokes sadness. This is not wear from centuries of history. This is neglect. Seeing such an extraordinary legacy deteriorate is nothing short of tragic.
The visitor experience is equally disappointing. Elephant rides operate only between 7–11 am, which is poorly communicated and leaves late visitors excluded and frustrated. What should be a regulated, respectful experience feels badly managed and transactional.
The guides were particularly disheartening. Much of the tour felt like aggressive steering toward overpriced gift shops, clearly driven by commission rather than education. The shops themselves are exorbitant, and the constant pressure to buy cheapens the entire experience. Instead of learning about history, you feel like a customer being herded through a marketplace.
Amber Fort is not just another tourist site. It is a symbol of India’s royal, architectural, and cultural heritage. Watching it decay while being seen as a revenue opportunity rather than a national responsibility is devastating.
This is a waste of a legacy and a disgrace in how it is being preserved and presented. The Indian government and relevant authorities should be ashamed that a monument of this magnitude is allowed to deteriorate while visitors are exploited.
Amber Fort deserves care, dignity, and respect. Right now, it has none.

Definitely must visit the Amber Fort if you are in Jaipur
The Amber Fort is impressive both in terms of its scale and in terms of its architecture (especially its columns and colourful art work on the walls). From the car park at the base of the fort, the fort walls stretched for miles. Our guide described it as a mini wall of China. As it was an auspicious period for weddings that September, we saw quite a lot of couples posing for their wedding shoots.

Definitely Worth A Visit!
My friends and I visited Jaipur as part of my Golden Triangle Tour of India(Delhi-Jaipur-Agra) and we had the services of a private vehicle with driver and professional tour guide. If you came to Jaipur without a tour guide, I would recommend that you hire one at the ticketing office because this place is massive, with many courtyards and passageways to navigate through. Without a proper guide, you might waste a lot of time getting lost in the maze-like layout of the fort.
You can take an elephant ride from the bottom of the hill into the fort and get some professional photos taken of yourself on the elephant, with extra cost, of course.
Anyway, this place is a major tourist attraction around Jaipur and totally worth your time and money to visit.

“A Beautiful and Fun Visit to Amber Fort”
I went to Amber Fort in Jaipur and loved it! The place is really big and beautiful, and the view from the top is amazing. The mirror palace inside is so pretty and perfect for photos. Our guide told us interesting stories about the history, which made it even more fun. Walking around can be a bit tiring, but it’s totally worth it. Also, the local lassi and snacks outside are really yummy!

Still spectacular even in the on a rainy day
Amber Fort another spectacular place to visit in India, although the weather was terrible it added to the adventure. Racing back brown the hill in the Jeep trying to avoid the floods was quite an experience.
It was well worth the visit.
