スルタン・メト広場は、かつて東ローマ帝国の社会的・政治的中心地であったコンスタンティノープルの古代ヒッポドロームの跡地に位置している。 今日では、イスタンブールの最も有名なランドマークのいくつかに囲まれた、開放的な公共広場となっています。 広場は「イスタンブールの歴史地域」の一部としてユネスコの世界遺産に登録されている。

Didem was fantastic. She totally tailored the tour to our wants and needs. She guided us through expertly at our pace giving us lots of knowledge and also making it fun. She was easy to be with and so sweet and friendly. I can't recommend her enough. Yes, a private tour is more expensive but you get what you pay for and this was worth every penny. I can't wait to come back to Istanbul as there is so many things to see, do and try and when I do, I will be calling Didem!

The guide was very knowledgeable and experienced, and knew the area very well. Given the large crowds (not sure why - there were only 2 cruise ships in town, with a total passenger load of 4,000), It was a Saturday, so perhaps that would account for long lines everywhere. When booked, it was clear that it did not include admission fees, but it was also supposed to be “skip the line”. There was no prior information as to the estimated fees and how there were to be paid - I had assumed that a credit card would work, but as we approached Hagia Sophia, I learned that skip the line tickets would then require cash, and there was a 5 Euro surcharge to account for current fluctuations? I am not sure how the skip-the-line would work - at the Blue Mosque the guide essentially cut into the line, something we were not comfortable with. At the Cistern, one of us went with the guide to buy the tickets, having to squeeze in, and once we had the tickets, we had to squeeze back outside to pick up the remaining person. It did not seem very seemless - next time I would opt for an excursion that included the admission tickets. We never made it to Topaiki Palace - perhaps it would have been too crowded. We did make a couple of unscheduled stops - both of which turned out to be selling promotions - a pottery/ceramic shop and a Turkish delight/tea shop. On the visit to the Grand Bazaar, the guide mentioned an opportunity for a deal on purses, and pulled us into the warehouse for the store, even though we had not mentioned any interest in purses. The tour of the Grand Bazaar consisted walking down one hallway and then exiting on the other side of the building to walk back to the tram station to return to the ship. At times the crowds put us several people behind the guide, who did not seem to make an effort to wait for us to catch up.
We are so happy that we chose this tour for a comprehensive overview of Istanbul - and moreover we were so grateful to be paired with the best guide, Didem! She was so very knowledgeable - she was especially considerate to let us set the schedule and pace - and she made sure we saw all we wanted to see. She even helped us get to an Ash Wednesday service at the Crimean Memorial Church, and also helped us shop with trusted wholesale merchants for only those things we were interested in, so special! Our experience was made even better with her deep knowledge of the history of her city. She was able to share background, context, and details we never could have gotten trying to see everything while reading from a guidebook. The terms of inclusion and exclusions were not clear. It said pick up was included, but the night before the tour, we were informed by our tour guide that pickup is not included and we need to pay for pickup and recommend to get a car for whole trip costing us additional $150. When contacted the agency, they repeatedly said pick up is not included and that its the general information given in my ticket. Our tour guide turned out to be a commission hogger. She took us to most expensive shops for rugs and some imitation brand shops which was not on the itinerary and we had to skip visiting palaces and othet sites because of her importance to shopping which we dint need and was waste of our time and had very upsetting expensive trip with limited sight seeing.
The feedback shared with us has been carefully reviewed. However, a significant portion of the claims does not reflect the facts and appears to be based on misunderstandings. First of all, the services included and excluded in the tour are clearly stated during the booking process and on the ticket. For this specific tour, hotel pick-up is generally not included, and this information is clearly listed in the “Inclusions & Exclusions” section provided at the time of purchase. The information shared by the tour guide the day before the tour was simply a reminder of these existing terms. No arbitrary or last-minute charges were added. The suggestion to rent a vehicle was offered purely as an optional service to enhance guest comfort. This recommendation was not mandatory, and the decision to accept or decline it was entirely at the guest’s discretion. Claims that the guide focused excessively on shopping and that the itinerary was negatively affected are also inaccurate. As part of the tour program, short shopping stops are included solely for the introduction of local handicrafts. These visits are: Not mandatory Free from any purchase pressure Can be skipped upon the guest’s request Furthermore, any changes in visiting certain cultural or historical sites were shaped by time management and guest preferences. The tour was conducted in line with the guests’ directions and choices throughout the day. The allegation that the guide acted in a “commission-driven” manner is a subjective opinion and is not accepted by our company. All of our guides operate in accordance with ethical principles and professional standards. We experienced the key places of old Istanbul and learned much about the city's history. It's a long day with lots of walking but worth the time and effort.
Our tour guide Life was very kind and very knowledgeable about the history of the city. He took us to places where we were able to take spectacular pictures.
Ensure that you receive written confirmation of what "skip the line" price includes. Also "pick up" is not included in the price. We tried to get clarification by sending out messages prior to our day trip but did not get any replies. It ended up costing us time and money. Disappointed group.
We booked Skip the Line 2 day private guided tour. Kerim our tour guide was very prompt and professional and explained everything in detail he was very knowledgeable . We saved hours with skip the line there were thousands waiting in line (in the hot sun) had no problem beating the line. Thankyou Kerim Kuvetli for our Istanbul experience we still have lots to see on our next visit. All the palace’s and mosques we visited were breathtaking. Highly recommend this tour to see most popular attractions,but be prepared to do lots of walking 🚶♂️
