It was a busy and full day. Up at 4 AM to catch the flight. Be advised it is at SAW airport, but transportation was smooth and on time. You need to take PDF to domestic counter to get boarding passes. Flights are on budget airlines, but just a 45 min flight to Izmir. Our driver Ali meet us, was extremely friendly and interactive. Very proud of his community. He provided home grown nicely cold apricots after Ephesus. Our guide was Nizam, he was fluent in English for us, escorted us everywhere and he provided great historical context. He also helped navigate the slippery marble, and helped us with food allergies. Yes there was then the trips to leather, carpet, mosaic and olive oil sellers, but on these tours it is expected, and we did get some deals on great leather items. They had us back to airport at the 2 hour required before flight, which since a small airport not needed but understandable. There are a few airport lounges in Izmir if you have access.

The guide Nissan and our driver Ali were both great. The itinerary was a little different then described but the guide was fabulous about getting us to the main sites before the crowds and was very informative. The drivers had cold bottled water for us after all of our free time as Ephesus is very hot. Sunscreen, hats or umbrellas are recommended. The only reason we didn’t rate this 5-star is because we had some trouble finding our shuttles to/from the airport to/from our hotel. The responsiveness of the team via WhatsApp was really quick though so we appreciated their responsiveness. The lunch at the silk weaving school was really good also. I would recommend this trip to others.

We booked this full day, guided tour on the middle day of a seven-day visit to Istanbul, which was our first time traveling to Turkey. We opted for the private tour (wife and me) and paid extra for it, which was very much worth the added cost. Apasas Travel had good reviews for this tour so we felt confident it would help us through a somewhat complicated full day of traveling to and from our hotel, and it did work out beautifully. After the very early pickup by the Apasas driver at our hotel (4:30AM), we got to IST in plenty of time for our flight to Izmir (just 45 minutes in the air) where we were met by the tour driver Omur, who did a wonderful job all day getting us to each of the tour sites and back to the airport in plenty of time for our flight back to IST. Omur stopped to pick up our tour guide Gul (Turkish for "Rose") on the way to the first stop on the tour, and she did a great job going over details of the planned stops so we had a sense of how the day would proceed. It began at the House of the Virgin Mary, and Gul was very informative about how the site was discovered. It's a small cottage with a constant flow of visitors walking through so this site did not take much time. Omur drove us to Ephesus next, which took the longest to walk through, and Gul once again proved to be a gold mine of information about nearly every ruin we passed by and through in the course of our visit. And she was very helpful at suggesting photos and taking a few of us in front of the ruins with our cameras, including the spectacular and very famous Library of Celsus. After Ephesus, we stopped at the Temple of Artemis which consists of a single remaining column and then went to a local restaurant for a lunch of delicious Turkish dishes which was included with our tour itinerary. After lunch, we visited a weaving center to learn about Turkish rugs and then walked through the narrow streets of a fascinating and picturesque village called Sirince. Throughout the tour, Gul provided insights that helped give each stop a unique place in our memories. Sadly, Sirince was the last stop of our tour, so we said good-bye to Gul and Omur drove us back to the Izmir airport for the flight back to Istanbul and another Apasas driver met us there to take us back to our hotel where we arrived about 9:30PM, capping off a long but extremely enjoyable day. It was an amazing day! The ruins at Ephesus are truly spectacular! Our guide Osman was great! He was full of interesting information and very enthusiastic and knowledgeable and brought the ruins to life. It would not have been anywhere as good doing it on our own. The other sights are interesting to see but the ruins at Ephesus are truly awesome. Our driver Ömür was great - very friendly and helpful. It’s a long day but worth it. Would definitely recommend this trip!

Hüray Iladiz is a wonderful guide who is knowledgeable, personable, energetic, helpful and patient. Driver provided a smooth ride throughout. The local travel agency does not give all details for the itinerary but were responsive when I had questions about next steps during the process. Experience was overall enjoyable but be prepared for a long day and crowding of other tourists at each site.

Nizam was terrific. It was the best lunch we had during our week stay in Turkey. Ephesus was probably my favorite day of our trip.

The tour operator did not send the e-ticket and info regarding pick up. I have to call the operator to email me the e-ticket. There was lack of communication. The tour guide was knowledgeable and very helpful, she even helped me guide through the unpaved road at the ruins.

This FULL day tour from Istanbul packs a punch. I was picked up right on time from my hotel at 4:30 and driven to the airport. After a wonderful flight with Turkish Air, I was promptly picked up by a friendly driver in Izmir and proceeded to join the others awaiting me. We then made our way to the House of the Blessed Virgin Mary which was very moving to me. We next spent several fascinating hours exploring the ruins at Ephesus with a funny and knowledgeable guide. After a quick stop at the Temple of Artemis, we headed to a lunch filled with traditional Turkish dishes. I had asked my guide about what was left of the Basilica of Saint John. He gave me the option, which I gladly took, to be dropped there (admission on my own) while the rest explored the local village. My driver returned me to the airport where I caught a Pegasus flight back to Istanbul. The only confusion came with where to meet my driver who was taking me back to my hotel. I will suggest that if a visit to Ephesus is your top itinerary item for visiting Turkey, don’t wait until the last day because my earlier booking was canceled by the company the night before.
