A beautiful hike (a little physical) to better know life in villages and cultures thanks to our guides. Kuang Si Sprinps is a good time relaxing in a quiet and refreshing place (swimming). Kuang Si Waterfall is then the highlight of the day with the beauty of the landscape and swimming in crystal clear waters. The return cruise allows you to fully enjoy the sunset.
There was a change of plans because of the burning season so the hike was shorter. But it was a nice treat since we had a 1,5 hour boat ride on the Mekong to the village where the hike started. It was a nice walk through the jungle. We saw colourful butterflies, dragonflies, spiders…. The lunch break at the source of the waterfall was in a paradise setting. So so beautiful. The lunch was tasty as well. We had the place for ourselves for lunch. Then we walked to the waterfall. Kuang Si is amazing. Very beautiful! We had a short stop at a rice farm and we made our own sugar cane drink before heading back to the boat. The sunset was amazing. Our guide did a good job during the whole tour. He was friendly, not pushy and very informative.

Pretty much as advertised and great way to see the countryside with knowledgeable guide. Walking into the spring area with bamboo restaurant was a highlight ....swimming opportunities great after hot trek.

We were collected at 08:15, and when the eight os us on the trip were on the minibus we left for a village. Our guide was very knowledgeable about this culture, and his own community in the mountains of Laos (which was described later on), but all the time spent here meant that we didn’t start walking to the waterfalls until 11:30, when it was getting much hotter. We had lunch at a cafe at the entrance to the waterfalls, which was nice and a good sociable experience. My partner and I declined the extra walk around the waterfalls in order to approach them from the top, but instead walked up the hiking route inside the waterfalls’ area, which was steepish and enjoyable. We had time for a coffee in the restaurant (on site) and a swim in one of the pools before we met the group outside at the designated meeting point. We then drove to a rice field where some members of our party planted rice plants and we learnt about traditional methods of planting and harvesting rice in the lowlands and in the mountains. We also learnt how to get sugar liquid from the sugar canes, but we didn’t know why or how this was relevant to the rice field. The day finished with a beer on a slow boat back to Luang Prabang, I think that the company should decrease the amount of information imported in one day as it is too much for most people to remember and recall. More time to enjoy the waterfalls would have been preferable for us.
"Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback! 😊 We appreciate your kind words about our guide's knowledge. We understand your point about the amount of information and activities in one day - we'll definitely take that into consideration. Glad you enjoyed the waterfalls and rice field experience despite the tight schedule. We'll look into adjusting the itinerary to allow more time for exploration. Thanks for your input, hope to welcome you back to Luang Prabang!"
Simply perfect ! Everything was fully adapted to our wishes : hiking, explications, waterfalls, sunset, etc. I recommand without any double.
Merci beaucoup ! 😊 We're thrilled you had a perfect day trekking to Kuang Si Waterfalls and the remote village. Our guides love tailoring experiences, glad we got it just right for you. Thanks for the recommendation, hope to welcome you back to Laos!"
We loved this tour! Vone was so knowledgeable and fun to talk to. We learned so much from him and enjoyed the walk and meeting local people.
😊 Aww, sounds like Vone brought the magic! 😄 Knowledgeable, fun, and made you learn lots - that's guide goals 👍. Would you say meeting locals and the walk were highlights with Vone?
I enjoyed the hike but it was a lot more vigorous than the description suggests. Just be aware parts are very steep and uneven. It is not a "gentle hike" The what to expect blub states "We will drive from Luang Prabang to the Khmu village of Ban Nong Heo. Upon arrival, you will have time to explore the village, where traditional stilt houses, freely roaming ducks and buffalo, and villagers at work provide an authentic glimpse into rural Lao life." It was more an awkward 15 min stop running guantlet through stalls selling tourist stuff. "Here, nestled by the water in a tranquil outdoor setting, you’ll find an open-air restaurant run by a local Khmu family—a place rarely seen by other visitors. Enjoy an lunch (choice of dishes) in this natural plaza, knowing your meal directly supports the local community." Sorry hardly a place rarely seen or a natural plaza nestled by the water! It was in the big concrete holding pen where all the tour groups arrive. Meal was basically a choice ofcfried rice or fried noodles. "The journey continues as we follow the water's path to the Kuang Si Heritage Rice Farm. You'll see firsthand the vital connection between the forest, the water, and the local way of life." We didnt get to do this at all. Pluses. Walk was just basically our small group no other tourists. Did see village life there. Falls are lovely but very crowded and noisey. Swimming a bit of a non event. Mekong cruise was good but bring lots of warm layers. We got quite chilled. Guide was lovely and local guide a sweetheart. Enjoyed the papaya and bananz he cut for us.
Dear kiwi_ovacz, Thank you very much for taking the time to share such a detailed review of your recent trek to Kuang Si Waterfalls. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed the privacy of the trail, the fresh fruit prepared by our team, and that our guides made a positive impression on you. However, I would like to sincerely apologize that certain aspects of the tour did not meet the expectations set by our description. We take your comments regarding the difficulty of the hike seriously; it is clear that "gentle" was not an accurate depiction of the steep terrain you encountered. We will review our marketing materials immediately to ensure they provide a more realistic description for future guests. Furthermore, I am concerned to hear about the missed visit to the Heritage Rice Farm and the experience at the village and lunch site. This is not the level of service we strive for. We will be discussing this with our local operations team to investigate why the itinerary was altered and to improve the authenticity of the lunch experience. Thank you also for the tip regarding the Mekong cruise—we will make sure to advise future guests to bring extra layers for the evening chill. We appreciate your honesty as it helps us improve. We hope to have the chance to welcome you back for a much better experience in the future. Warm regards, Yuki
A very enjoyable and interesting day out. Our guide was excellent and looked after everyone very well. The return journey by boat was beautiful, bur be prepared for the evening chill on the river.
