We were never contacted ahead of the tour concerning what we wanted to focus on nor were we asked by our tour guide. Viator failed to inform our guide that we had also purchased skip the line tickets for the castle that day. He seemed uncertain as to how to proceed but did adjust his planned program on the fly. Compared to other private guides that I have had with Viator and others he was definitely a level below. Overall I would rate this experience as just average. Considering the cost and investment of time I would recommend other options.
Seeing Prague from the Ground Up
This is the way to see Prague. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable about the city and it's history. I would highly recommend Max Hutar, our tour guide. In fact, I would say his tour is a must. We saw parts of Prague you could not possibly see in a car (such as the narrowest street, the Powder Tower, the Astronomical Clock, several churches, a small hidden away place for a locals lunch, and too many to mention). I must warn you, it is a strenuous tour. You have cobblestones, hills, steep steps, and a lot of walking.

and yes, it is best seen without a car.
now our private tour is a custom tour, so we can stop at a beer garden. We can also take the tram. Whatever suits you.
Prague is also very playful - just as you write: a narrow street, cobblestones, views, hidden gems etc.
