We did this excursion during our stay in Cusco with Salkantay Trekkers Peru and we liked it quite a bit. Maras and Moray are very interesting places and the guide made the visit much more entertaining with his explanations. The tour was not too strenuous and we had time to see the places calmly and take photographs. The organization was good and everything went as planned. We would recommend Salkantay Trekkers Peru for the attention and service we received.

Amazing salt terraces at Maras
My wife and I toured the Salinas de Maras on a day trip during our visit to Peru this past July. It is fascinating how the salt pools have been developed for hundreds of years. Our guide told us that families in the local town own individual pools and have made enough money to send their children to college. We bought a couple of kilos of salt to take home for gifts.

Beautiful stop just make sure it’s dry season.
Really interesting and beautiful stop while in Cusco or like I did from Sacred Valley. It’s a must see and highly recommend visiting during the dry season. The tour guide explained that when it’s the rainy season you can’t appreciate the beauty of this place. We had a driver take us and in cost us 20 soles per person to enter the salt mines. Once you take your pictures and enjoy the views don’t forget to stop at the local vendors on the way out and try the chocolate samples they offer I bought the salted chocolate and the maracuya chocolate bars they where delicious!

We are very happy with the tour.
We chose Salkantay Trekkers Peru for our tour to the Salineras of Maras and Moray, and it was an excellent decision. The guide, Elena, was very knowledgeable and provided us with valuable information about the sites. The Salineras were stunning, and Moray, with its circular terraces, was impressive. The entire tour was very well organized, with comfortable transportation and exceptional customer service. We highly recommend this agency!

Impressive!
Another stop of the tour was in the Salineras de Maras, where we had about an hour to get to know the place and understand how salt extraction is done. It is impressive to see the thousands of salt wells in the middle of the mountains and imagine how all this was built in the pre-Inca period. At the end of the visit, we also passed through a store where it was possible to taste different types of salt and chocolates with salt, a curious and very interesting combination.

Go In The Dry Season
We visited the salt mines on a guided tour of Sacred Valley. Unfortunately, it had rained so it was muddy and not as pretty as I was expecting it to be. Not many people were visiting b/c of the weather and it was late afternoon. The cost was $20 sols. Our guide did take a cool video of us here.

One of the most interesting places to meet. Amazing. Arriving through the precipice is scary, even more when the van has to give re to give way to other cars.

Tour to Maras and Moray by motorbike
I recommend Salkantay Trekkers because it was recommended by friends who had traveled to Cusco before, and now I understand why they speak so highly of the agency. The tour by motorbike to Maras and Moray was the best of the trip. The bikes were in excellent condition and before leaving we were given a clear explanation to safely handle them. The tour was spectacular, with incredible scenery and a lot of adrenaline the team was always attentive and taking care that we were all comfortable. Maras salt flats are impressive and Moray is simply fascinating. I felt safe all the time and that made me enjoy the experience much more

Gorgeous
We went with a guide and this was my favorite stop. The salt mines are fascinating and make for amazing photos. The shopping area has salt samples to try and very reasonably priced bags to take home. Out guide had us skip the main viewing area to walk around the outside. I'm sorry we missed this. The mines were still beautiful along the long walk around. We went down the far side which was a little slippery with lots of small stones. You can also rent a drone for 20 soles.
