This does not take you to the famous Banana beach, nor is it accessible from the point of the island where we were dropped. It’s important to know this to save a wasted trip if that was your goal. This trip involved a collection from the hotel and a speedboat to the island. From that point you are essentially left alone for 3 hours. You do get some snorkelling equipment but this is restricted to a few metres from the beach and there is little to see. The beach itself is fairly small and crowded, quite dirty beyond the central part, there’s a few restaurants if you wish to eat. The beach in Patong was better so in my opinion you’d be better off travelling to Banana beach instead.

We did the lazy day in Koh Hey. Beautiful blue, clear water, but very rocky with lots of dead coral. Many sea urchins. Make sure to bring water shoes with thick rubber soles. Lots of shade, but older worn chairs. There’s a restaurant on site for food and drinks. Great day at the beach though. Would recommend as a nice get away from Phuket.
