Mario is a wonderful tour guide - so passionate about his profession and very proud of his country and heritage. He provided in depth information about Ecuador and Guayaquil - history, economy, agriculture, cocoa production, etc. He has a great personality and an eagerness to please his guests. Additionally, people at the cocoa farm (family-owned) are extremely friendly.
Dear Atilla, Thanks so much for this review. I am so glad you enjoyed the tour and for me it was an honor to be your guide. Hope we meet again in the future, Mario
Our experience with Mario and his team was absolutely outstanding from start to finish. From the moment he picked us up at our hotel in Guayaquil, we felt completely at ease. Mario is not only incredibly professional, but also warm, personable, and genuinely passionate about what he does. The drive to the cacao farm was seamless and comfortable, and Mario made the entire journey engaging by sharing so much fascinating information about Ecuador, the region, and the history of cacao. His knowledge is truly impressive, and he has a way of explaining things that keeps you interested the entire time. At the cacao farm, the experience only got better. Everything was beautifully organized, immersive, and authentic. We learned so much, and it was clear how much care and intention goes into every part of the tour. And the lunch, wow. The three-course meal completely exceeded our expectations. Every dish was thoughtfully prepared, fresh, and absolutely delicious. I was genuinely blown away by the quality and presentation. It felt like a fine dining experience tucked into the most beautiful setting. Most importantly, we felt safe and well taken care of the entire time, which made it easy to fully relax and enjoy the experience. Mario went above and beyond in every way, and it is clear that his company takes great pride in delivering a top-tier experience. If you are considering this tour, do not hesitate to book it. Mario is exceptional, and this was truly one of the highlights of our trip.

Absolutely fantastic. A real highlight of our trip to Ecuador. Everyone involved; from our guide,Eddy, to the individuals at the plantation, everyone was fun, welcoming, and knowledgeable.

What an incredible day, from pickup to return! This excursion combines learning about cacao and the culture around it, from walking through the grove of cacao plants, to turning it into paste, to eating different treats and dishes made with cacao. And finished with a home cooked meal. Extraordinary hospitality. Great value! Every person we interacted with was so passionate to share about their country, culture and special crop. We feel like we now have Ecuadorian friends! Great value. We can't recommend this experience highly enough!
Dear Catherine, Thank you so much for taking the time in writing this wonderful review! I am glad you had such a great time in the tour, let us know if you are ever back in Guayaquil. Cordially, Mario
Excellent tour, highly recommended. The guide was outstanding, very knowledgeable and friendly. Wonderful trip to the cacao farm, enjoyed the entire experience. Lunch was fantastic. Afterward the guide and driver added an extra 30 min to take us to a unique spot in Guayaquil for an event that only happens around New Year. Any tour with this company is sure to be memorable.
Dear Melissa, Thank you so much for this review, I am glad you had a great time with us! Hope to see you again in the future! Mario
This was the best tour we’ve ever had the chance of taking! Our guide Alison was so personable and kind, and everything was at a pace that let us absorb the history and beauty of the land around us. We learned so much about where chocolate comes from, the cacao plants, the history of the industry, and the process of turning the cacao into chocolate. Allison was very knowledgeable and did a great job of including us in every part of the chocolate making process, which was a great hands- on experience for us. We didn’t know there were so many products and delicious things that come from cacao. Her expertise and friendly demeanor made this an overall amazing full day experience. We topped off our afternoon with a delicious home cooked 3-course meal on the premises among the breeze and the flowering trees. The food was delicious! Everyone on the farm was helpful, patient, knowledgeable, and happy to showcase their little piece of paradise. It was refreshing to experience such a welcoming and hospitable group of people working the chocolate making and also dining part of the tour. My son and I were the only two people on the tour this day, so Allison and her husband gave us a personalized educational day that could not be beat. We highly recommend this tour- and Allison as your guide.
Dear Elaine, Thank you so much for this review. We are glad to read that you had such a great time with Allyson. Enjoy the rest of your time in Ecuador! Cordially, Mario
Mario was a terrific guide and we had a lot of fun seeing the farm, picking a cacao pod, and grinding the beans! The chocolate and the lunch were delicious, and everyone involved was very friendly. The scenery of the farm was beautiful - we saw some gorgeous flowers and interesting birds like a kingfisher. Would love to go back and do more tours with this group.
Dear Daniel, Thanks for this review, I appreciate it. Let me know if you come back so we can go for more adventures! Warmly, Mario
It was an amazing experience! This is a hidden gem and a "must-do" excursion. From beginning to end, Mario was informative, funny and attentive. Along the drive to the farm, we stopped at one of the many fruit stands to purchase some fruit. Hacienda Cacao and Mango Farm is proud and passionate about their family planation. We were able to experience the making of chocolate from tree (the fruit) to chocolate paste. Mario provided various pairings of the chocolate with mango, solid sugar cane and bananas. We enjoyed each tasting. The cacao juice and chocolate drink were very tasty! Be sure to request for Mario booking this trip.
Dear Mary, Thank you so much for this review. I am glad you enjoyed the chocolate and hope you come back someday for more adventures! Warmly, Mario
This was an unexpected, lovely experience. We drove one hour to a family farm, passed many fruit stands and local lands. Mario provided a well organized, safe trip. He provided the group with bottled water and animated narratives throughout the tour. The cacao plants and the chocolate making experience was great. The lunch was lovely, tasteful with beautiful presentation. Hacienda Cacao and Mango Farm is truly natural. The family members are welcoming and proud of their farm and products. The chocolate....Yum! Mario, thank you for your kindness and care. We all enjoyed our day.
Dear Clay, Thank you for this wonderful review. I hope you come back someday for more adventures. Cordially, Mario
Very much enjoyed this day trip from GYE. Left at 10 am, back at 4 p because we enjoyed it so much. ( if time is time is tight, it could be shorter, but we were all quite chatty). So much to learn about chocolate, cacao and life in Ecuador from this farmer and family. Hands on, personal and up close! English was very good. Entire experience was professional and hospitable, very casual. Also Expect a good lunch and exquisite chocolate dessert and take home chocolate bar. Accommodating for diet issues. Suitable for young kids. Just a little walking through cacao trees. There were a few mosquitoes, so bug spray would be smart…they had some to use as well. Good comms upon booking via what’s app. Better to spend day in farm country than the city! Very personal experience. Just our group of 3.
Dear Francie, Thank you so much for this detailed review. We are glad you enjoyed the day and we hope that you come back to Ecuador in the future! Enjoy the rest of your trip, Mario
