It is incredibly difficult to find the meeting place and as a result we missed the tour. Viator would not refund or issue us a credit. We left our hotel in plenty of time to find the Tour, but it was very unclear. We also did not have the Tour Guide’s phone number to find him when we could not find our meeting place. It was a terrible experience.

We would like to respectfully clarify that all other guests booked on your tour successfully arrived at the designated meeting point and joined the experience. Unfortunately, as you were not present at the scheduled departure time, you were marked as a no-show. Our meeting location has been carefully selected because it is the most suitable starting point for this experience, allowing our guides to provide the perfect historical introduction to Notre Dame, Île de la Cité, and the surrounding area before visiting the beautifully restored cathedral. It has successfully welcomed thousands of guests, and full meeting point details, directions, and arrival instructions are provided in advance on the booking confirmation. We completely understand how disappointing it is to miss a tour while travelling, especially somewhere as special as Paris. However, with timed-entry experiences and other guests waiting, our guides must begin at the scheduled time to ensure everyone receives the full experience they booked. We are very sorry that you did not get to enjoy this extraordinary tour with us on this occasion, and we hope you still had the opportunity to visit the magnificent Notre Dame Cathedral during your stay in Paris. A complete rip-off. We demand a refund. Your guide met us and took us to the end of the line of the Church and left us at the door. Entrance is free to the public. We expected express access to the Church, but we waited for 45 in the blazing sun with other visitors to the church. WHAT DID WE PAY FOR !!!!!!!

Firstly, Notre Dame Cathedral does not offer “Skip the Line” access to any operator or visitor. Since the reopening of this magnificent cathedral, all visitors — including those with reserved entry times — must pass through the mandatory cathedral access and security process. This is managed entirely by Notre Dame Cathedral authorities and is not something any tour company can bypass. Your tour included a reserved entry time to Notre Dame Cathedral, which provides organised access during one of the busiest visitor periods in Paris. During peak summer months, with extremely high demand, increased security procedures, and large numbers of visitors wanting to see the beautifully restored cathedral, waiting times can unfortunately occur — even with reserved access. We would also like to clarify that this experience was not simply an entrance ticket to Notre Dame (which, as correctly stated, is free for all visitors). What you purchased was a complete guided cultural experience that included: ✓ A professional expert guide meeting you and hosting the experience ✓ A fully guided walking tour of the historic Île de la Cité — the birthplace of Paris ✓ The fascinating history of Notre Dame Cathedral, from its construction in the 12th century through the French Revolution, the 2019 fire, and the extraordinary restoration project ✓ A detailed introduction to the cathedral’s exterior architecture, sculptures, façade, towers, and famous features ✓ An expert explanation of what to discover and appreciate inside the newly renovated Notre Dame before your interior visit ✓ Reserved entry arrangements for the cathedral visit ✓ Small-group organisation and assistance throughout the experience Your guide accompanied the group throughout the guided portion of the tour and ensured everyone entered Notre Dame Cathedral. As clearly explained in the tour description, the interior visit is then enjoyed independently, allowing guests time to explore this remarkable and newly restored sacred space at their own pace. We understand that the summer heat and exceptional visitor numbers can make waiting uncomfortable, but this does not reflect a failure of the tour or the service provided. Thousands of guests have enjoyed this experience and appreciated the opportunity to learn the incredible story of Notre Dame before entering one of the world’s most important and beloved landmarks. We are sorry that your expectations differed from the experience booked, but we hope this clarification helps explain exactly what was included and delivered on the day.

I’ve booked many tours with Viator and this is the first time I got scammed. Everyone on the tour paid $134 each for a “guided tour” of Notre Dame and Sainte Chapelle which I didn’t really think too much of because of the amazing tour guides we have had. They were totally worth the price as they made the experience so much better. This wasn’t one of those times. Before we got to Notre Dame our guide gave us a brief history lesson about the area. He didn’t know much and we were able to confirm this by doing some quick google searches of his “facts” while he was talking. When we actually arrived at Notre Dame he cut in front of a huge line of people, which was really embarrassing, but we all followed like sheep as he had our tickets. Once inside the church he said, start left, walk all the way around, and I’ll meet you at the statue when you’re done. He didn’t tell us one thing about the church. Not one thing about a statue, painting, or alter. My husband and I ended up renting the guided headset tour just so we could learn SOMETHING about the place. We finished in an hour and headed to Sacre-Cœur. He spoke a bit about the islands and the building that held Marie Antoinette before her beheading. Then he air dropped our tickets for Sacre-Cœur and we headed to the line. The air dropping should’ve been our second warning that this tour was a sham. Once we got to the line he left us there. We all got through security but when we actually got to the ticket taker our tickets were flagged. We were sent to the ticket counter where the sweet woman behind the glass explained that our tickets were no good as they were for earlier that day AND that each person on the tour had paid for 8 tickets to Sacre-Cœur as Notre Dame is free to enter. She let us in anyway because she felt sorry for us that we got swindled. My hope in writing this review is that Viator does a better job screening these people that are giving them a bad reputation.
We registered for the 9:30am Notre Dame tour with the Sainte Chapelle add on. We arrived at the meeting point before 9:15, as directed. There was a terrible mix up in the morning - some of the guides didn’t show up, so there was shuffling and combining of groups. We finally left the meeting point at 10am. Because we got a late start, we had to skip the entire exterior review of the Notre Dame to use the timed group entry tickets. The guide said we would return to the exterior, but we never did. The Notre Dame interior tour was rushed and too brief (20 mins total inside), and we rushed back outside for the “tour of the city”. We walked with the guide to a bridge. He talked about the Pont Neuf for a moment, then we rushed along to get to Sainte Chapelle in time for our 11:30am entry tickets (we arrived at St Chapelle at 11:06, so there was plenty of time remaining to discuss the exterior of Notre Dame or any other interesting details about the île. We learned at this point that Sainte Chapelle was closed because of the heat wave. So the tour ended right then and there! At 11:06! What was supposed to be a 2.5 hour tour about the exterior and interior of Notre Dame and Sainte Chapelle and the île ended up being barely over an hour of rushing around and skipping over important and included information. I am very disappointed, and expect a major if not full refund of our $400 experience.
Excellent tour guide, very interesting
Maybe I didn't read the description thoroughly, but for a 3-hour tour, @ almost $200 pp, the guide (who was good) was with us for less than 1 hour. She walked us to Notre Dame, said go inside meet me back here in an hour. Then we walked to Saint Chapelle (on the way she pointed out a few things), then left us in our timed entry que (30 mins prior to timed entry) and said goodbye. We waited 45 mins and entered. She did not tell us what to expect at all, including a steep, long, winding staircase to access the chapel. I understand Notre Dame is SILENT, but she could have used whisper boxes like many other guides in there. She could have used our time to tell us about Paris history while we waited in chapel que for 45 mins. tickets to Saint Chapelle were provided (value of $20pp), Notre Dame is free ofcourse. I just don't see the value. Perhaps it's the markup....as it was a local tour company that was booked through tripadvisor then Viator.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON A VIATOR TOUR. We were told to arrive at 9:15 for our 9:30 tour of notre dame and saint chapelle. Our tour guide did not arrive, and when a guide finally arrived at 9:45, there was a lot of confusion as there were many people waiting. Our tour finally started at 10:15. The company “upgraded” us to a fully guided tour of the inside of notre dame. This meant we walked quickly through notre with no time to stop and see ANYTHING. we spent a total of 20 minutes inside notre dame. We were rushed to get to saint chapelle on time and when we got there, we learned it was closed due to the heat! The tour company claimed they did not need to compensate us for the very fast notre dame tour inside thanks to the upgrade of the guided tour. I feel like I haven’t even visited the inside of notre dame. This was the worst experience I have ever had on a tour.
